The target outcomes for participants include: ‘+ Appreciation of influence of pile construction techniques on ple performance + Awareness of the roe of pile testingin design ‘+ Ablty to derive design parameters fr pls frm intrinsic sll properties and ste investigation data + Awareness of the eects of yi shearing, including that occuring ‘uring installation on the capacty of ples ‘+ Awareness of time effects on pile capacty ‘+ Familiy with clelation approaches ued to quanti the in-service response of single ples and ple groups + Aporecation of interaction effets and complete system response in design of ple groups andpiled rats BIODATA OF SPEAKERS "Mark Randolgh is Professor of Chil Engineering inthe Centre {or Offshore Foundation Systems at the University of Western ‘Australia, He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University in 1973, Master from the ‘same university in 1978 and his PhO from Cambridge University aso in 1978. His two main research interests are piled foundations and offshore geotechic, co-authoring books in each area: Piling Engneering, now ints thie eaiton, and Offshore Geotechnical Engineering, He has published over 250 joural article, Broviding novel solutions to practical problems. He is also the author of various pieces of sofware for analysis and design of piles and plle groups. Professor Randolph interacts closely with industry, both in esearch and through his ole 3s Technical Advisor within Fugre AG. He isa Felow of several lermed academies, Incuding the Roya Society and the Australian Academy of Sclence, and in 2013 was lected Scien ofthe Year in Wester Australia.
