‘The course wl comprise ectures and software applications, focusing on modern
approaches to the design of single piles, pile groups and pled rafts under the ation
of vrtical and horizontal loading. The target outcomes for participants include:
‘+ Appreciation of influence of pile construction techniques on ple
performance
+ Awareness of the roe of pile testingin design
‘+ Ablty to derive design parameters fr pls frm intrinsic sll properties
and ste investigation data
+ Awareness of the eects of yi shearing, including that occuring
‘uring installation on the capacty of ples
‘+ Awareness of time effects on pile capacty
‘+ Familiy with clelation approaches ued to quanti the in-service
response of single ples and ple groups
+ Aporecation of interaction effets and complete system response in
design of ple groups andpiled rats
