For our most recent NIH-SEPA workshop for teachers, I created a guided paint-along
project using tempera on wet paper. The movement of the watery paint through the
sky, mountains, fields, and ocean was part of our discussion on the permeability of
watersheds. Everything is connected, by water.
I took this paint-along project to my college class, where students created one painting
per week, each week for four weeks.
We painted outside, on wet paper. This is a process that I use for art therapy workshops
because it is meditative and rewarding
(Note: The recording of the project process was lost - I will post when it is re-recorded.)

After completing a grid of 40 paintings, we used them as animation cells to create this
stop-motion film for the Monterey Ocean Arts festival. We intend the video to play
looping on a monitor near the grid of 40 paintings hanging on the wall.
