OBJECTIVES
1. redeveloping dilapidated buildings into new buildings of modern standard and environmentally-
friendly design; should also utilize the concept of intensity , greening, local culture and heritage
preservation.
2. preserving as far as practicable the social networks of the local community ; to consider first the
social sector, and public participatory approach. Balancing the interests and needs of different
sectors of the community and considering the rights of particular group. To lessen the
inadequate housed people while improving the life of the social sectors in the area.

HYPOTHESIS
Will inspire the Government on district-based urban redevelopment initiatives from a
comprehensive and full perspective, including regeneration and redevelopment areas,
preservation targets, and implementation models. The solution in the problem that we can see
and experience in highly developed urbanized city, takes efforts of the people in the position
and in the profession who can deal exactly what a specific place such as Quiapo really needs. To
begin, the theoretical solution to this, based on the assessments we conducted and studies that
we did, Quiapo requires to undergo Urban Renewal. Urban Renewal based on Development
Bureau of Hong Kong, is not a “slash and burn” process. A comprehensive and holistic approach
should be adopted to rejuvenate older urban areas by way of redevelopment, rehabilitation,
revitalisation and heritage preservation (the 4R business strategy).

the approach would be rezoning and renewal of areas in the community that needs improvement based
on the conducted assessments and related studies. In order to maintain a more organized and livable
environment accessible to all such proposals should done. This would be to prioritize the social culture
yet to still keep the Heritage of Quiapo as a whole. Also keep the character of the place and do not
compromise the culture and attributes that makes it what it is, even with the touch of renewal to some,
if not the most, physical aspects of the community. Give more importance to heritage buildings and
promote the Historical background of Quiapo without neglecting the future development of it . the right
kind of development focused not into own profit but in the Significance of a beautiful Urban design.
