How to set roles and responsibilities through RACI chart?


RACI stands for R=Responsible, A=Accountable, C=Consulted and I=Informed. It is used to clarify
roles and responsibilities in a cross functional project amongst various stakeholders (people
connected to a project or business).

Responsible

These are those people who actually do/complete the task. At least one member should be assigned
to the responsible role to complete the task/project.

Accountable

This is the person who is answerable for completion of task. This person is also the one who
delegates the work to those responsible.Theremust be only one accountable specified for each task
or deliverable.

Consulted

These are the subject matter experts; and with whom there is two-way communication. There can
be multiple consultants in a single project.

Informed

These are those people who are kept up-to-date on progress, often only on completion of the task
or deliverable; and with whom there is just one-way communication.

RASCI

This is an expanded versionof the standard RACI, less frequently known as RASCI, breaking the
responsible participation into:

Responsible

These are those people who are responsible for the task.

Support
These are the resource person allocated to responsible. Unlike consulted, who may provide input to
the task, support helps complete the task.
