Oil pressure in the system could cause injury
Æ Tag-out/Lock-out the pumps for generating the pressure in the system to pre-
vent unexpected switching-on.

Prior to disassembly remove the transmitters for vibration measurement.

Note
When dismantling the bearing pedestal housing, keep all components that come
into contact with lube oil absolutely clean

This is only required if operation of the bearing jacking oil system is necessary for
maintenance of turbine or oil system components.

The auxiliary oil system start-up is only necessary when during maintenance work:
- the rotor must be turned or displaced (axial clearance measurement)
- the bearing clearances must be measured.
6.2.1 Removing the orifice and fitting the blanking plate
- Refer to Fig. 6-2.
Remove the cover 1 of the splash guard 2.
Loosen the hex. head bolts 3, 4 remove bolts 4 at the connection flange according to
Fig. 6-2 and pull out the orifice 6.
Install the blanking plate 5.
Caution

Mark at the outer side of the splash guard indicating that the blanking plate (5) is
installed. Fasten the original orifice plate (6) to the oil line.

Refit and tighten the cover of the splash guard.

Illustrated parts list

Refer to parts list:

Æ MAD41

6.6.1 Check measurements on the journal bearing

Note
To measure the bearing's clearance, mount the auxiliary rotor support before dis-
assembling the top bearing section.

Place a dial gauge on the bearing pedestal and position the dial gauge spindle on
the highest point of the rotor shaft. Use the auxiliary rotor support to slowly lift the ro-
tor and take a reading from the dial gauge.
Enter the measurement as clearance "V" taken at the bearing Test certificate
into the test certificate. IBSE 500 739

6.6.2 Removing the thermocouples

Unscrew the bearing temperature thermocouples from the lower part of the bearing
and unplug the socket connection from the bearing pedestal. Mark them with the cor-
rect KKS designations.

6.7 Installing the auxiliary rotor support

Note
This is only required if the journal bearing lower part must be removed.

Install the rotor raising device 902† according to Fig. 6-6

Note
When the Auxiliary rotor support is installed only rotate or move the rotor by hand.

Attach the Inlay 1 upside down to a crane with two chain blocks using both Inlay
eyebolts 7. Orient the Inlay 1 in the correct position to the bearing housing. Coat the
Inlay 1 and shaft journal with lube oil. Put down the Inlay 1 onto the shaft. Make sure
that the Eyebolts 7 are diagonal (i.e.: front and back of the inlay). Gradually let up on
one of the hoists to allow the Inlay 1 to roll down around the shaft until it stabilizes in
the bottom of the bearing housing. In the final position the inlay 1 must be parallel
with the parting plane.
Insert the Threaded bars 3 into the Inlay 1. Lubricate the Threaded bars 3 the Wash-
ers 5 and the Hexagonal nuts 4 with Graphite Lubricant Paste. Attach the Bracket 2
to a crane with a chain block using the Eyebolt 6. Put down the bracket 2 over the
threaded bars 3 of the inlay 1 and onto the parting plane of the bearing pedestal 10.
Put the Washers 5 and the Hexagonal nuts onto the Threaded bars 3.
Tight the Hexagonal head screws 8 to fix the rotor raising device in the correct posi-
tion then slightly loosen the Hexagonal head screws 8 to allow the lifting process.
Insert sliding plate 9.
