There are a total of 11 questions. Attempt any 10 questions. The maximum marks for the
paper is 50.

1. The worksheet Q1 contains a list of names. Highlight in red each name that appears
atleast three times. (5 marks)
2. a. The worksheet Q2a tells you the following information about students who applied to
graduate school at Kelley University: gender, desired major, and whether they were
accepted or rejected. If you construct the appropriate PivotTable, you will find fewer
women are Accepted than men. Do you think Kelley discriminates against women? (3
marks)

b. For the data in the worksheet Q2b.xlsx, create calculated fields that summarize the sales
of dessert (cakes+puddings) and fruits (apples+grapes). (2 marks)

3. Shoeco manufactures three types of shoes. Demand for shoes is unlimited and 40 hours
per week of machine time and labor are available. A pair of shoes yields the following
profit and uses the number of minutes of machine time and labor given in the table
below. Assuming the number of pairs of shoes made each week must be an integer, how
can Shoeco maximize weekly profit? Data is attached in Q3.xlsx. (5 marks)

4. The worksheet Q4 contains a list of model, year, and price for each of a series of cars.
a. Set up a formula to extract the model and year of the car. (3 marks)
b. Set up formulas that enable you to enter the model and year of a car and return its price. (2 marks)

5. The file Q 5 contains the ranking each of 20 workers has given (on a 0–10 scale) to four
jobs. The file also gives the job to which each worker is assigned. Set up a formula to
compute each worker’s ranking for the job to which the worker is assigned. (5 marks).
6. The sheet Match_Large gives the product ID codes and unit sales for 500 products. Use
the MATCH function to write a single formula that yields the product ID code of the
product with the largest unit sales. Show the value for Error 1 (5 marks).

7. The Indian Airlines flight from DEL to BLR has a capacity of 250 people. The airline
sold 270 tickets for the flight at a price of INR 4563 per ticket. Tickets are nonrefundable.
The variable cost of flying a passenger (mostly food costs and fuel costs) is INR 356 per
passenger. If more than 250 people show up for the flight, the flight is overbooked and
Indian Airlines must pay overbooking compensation of INR 5000 per person to each
overbooked passenger. Develop a worksheet (in Airline sheet) that computes Indian
Airlines profit based on the number of customers who show up for the flight. (5 marks)

8. Refer to the worksheet Singer and resolve the errors and answer the following questions
(5 marks)
a. How many songs that are exactly three minutes long and sung by Britney Spears were
played later than 2004?
b. How many songs are sung by Barry Manilow were played in 2004?
c. How many songs were sung by singers whose names contain an e?
d. How many songs at least four minutes long and sung by Mandy Moore were played
in 2007 or earlier?
e. How many songs were sung by singers whose last names begin with M?

9. The dataset under Q9 show Maruti Suzuki’s 2021 September Sales data which has been
downloaded from a trustable website on internet. Use appropriate lookup functions to
check:
a. If net sales of Sharda motor is better than net Tata motors. Give suitable reasons to
substantiate your answers.
b. Bajaj performed better in Jun21 than Jun20. If you are working for Bajaj, which lookup
function would you use to check which companies performed better in 2021 than Bajaj in
2020. (5 marks)

10. Please use relevant text functions to obtain following in destination cell (5 marks)
a. PAN
b. HOP
c. EAR
d. ANT
e. 1 Lion

11. You are CR and are responsible for farewell of your seniors who are graduating in May
2022. The dataset under Q11 show the budget for your seniors’ farewell. Develop
appropriate scenarios to see what the net amount is you may have to
spend(from)/retain(in) your pockets if the fixed budget (i.e. from students club) is Rs
15000.

Typical scenarios include:

a. Not all seniors do not turn for the farewell party (worst scene) due to their
unavailability.
b. All seniors turn for farewell party (best scene)
c. Few are Available (Realistic scene) (5 marks)
