1. In line with the goal of making Mathematics relevant and significant to our students amidst this pandemic,
the Mathematics department will be conducting its very first Virtual Mathematics Consciousness Week to
be held on January 24-28, 2022 with a theme of “Mathematics: Welcoming Challenges in the New
Normal”.
4. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired to ensure full cooperation of all
concerned.

JANUARY 24-28, 2022
Teaching and learning math in the new normal are tough and truly challenging. There will be
uncertainties, anxieties, and fears. Misconceptions may arise and hatred for the subject or the teacher
may happen. Math teachers might fail in developing the students toward the twin goals of the K-12
Math – critical thinking and problem solving.
Therefore, in line with the goal of making Mathematics relevant and significant to our students
amidst this pandemic, the Mathematics department will be conducting its very first Virtual
Mathematics Consciousness Week to be held on January 24-28, 2022 with a theme of “Mathematics;
Welcoming Challenges in the New Normal”.
The following are the list of activities our department is planning to conduct;

GUIDELINES/MECHANICS
GENERAL GUIDELINES/MECHANICS
1. The contest is open to all junior high school students of Guiguinto National Vocational High
School
2. Winners will be announced during the closing program of Mathematics Consciousness Week
on January 28, 2022 and will be posted in GNVHS Math Club Facebook Page.
3. A certificate of participation will be given to all the participants and certificate of recognition
for the first, second, and third placers.
1. There shall only 1 entry per section. The subject teacher and the adviser will have to
choose the one and only entry to represent the section.
2. The entry should be performed individually/solo.
3. Participants must create their own choreography and use dance steps related to math.
4. Using of text effects and props are allowed.
5. The video must NOT contain any offensive, profane, and/or vulgar words and gestures.
Found guilty in any of these forms will result to disqualification.
6. The video must NOT contain any identity such as your name, section, name of your
teacher and the like, to avoid biases.
7. Visit GNVHS Math Club Facebook page and find the background music to be used in
the challenge.
8. The length of the dance video should be maximum of 30 seconds.
9. All entries must be submitted to GNVHS Math Club’s messenger on/before January 17,
2022, Monday (5pm).
10. There will be 22 entries per grade level. 80 percent from the Criteria of Judging should
be used by three judges and the 5 highest pointers (ranking system) will be the finalists.
11. Announcement of top 5 per grade level will be on January 20, 2022. (for a total of 20
finalists)
12. The 20 finalists will be uploaded to GNVHS Math Club Facebook page on January 21,
2022. TikTok Dance Challenge reacts will start on the same day at 12 noon and will end
on January 23 ,2022 at 12 midnight.
13. For the final round, another set of judges will score the 80 percent of the criteria and the
20 percent from the social media reactions should be scored by the committee by
bracketing system.
14. The score from the Social Media Engagement shall be added to the score of the judges
and the total scores will be ranked to identify the top 5.
15. The entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
16. Top 5 winners will be selected. Judges' decision is final and irrevocable.
5. The participant’s final piece must be submitted on/before January 21, 2022. Send your
entry through a Google form created by Sir Arnel Manco to avoid copying.
Preliminary screening may be conducted by the teacher-in-charge to reduce the entries
to 10 finalists (if needed).
6. All entries shall be judged by a Board of Judges. The entries will be judged according to
the following criteria:

1. The virtual SUDOKU challenge will be conducted through online platforms, Google
Meet/Zoom and Classpoint App.
2. There will be no elimination round. The willing participants will be endorsed by the
subject teachers.
3. Maximum of three participants per grade level will compete all together in this virtual
SUDOKU challenge.
4. The Game Master will follow the rules used in our Math Competition except for some
revisions in determining the top 3 winners of this competition.
5. Participants should have a stable internet connection and may use one of these gadgets,
desktop, laptop, tablet, or cellphones. They are required to turn on their microphone and
camera throughout the competition. They are expected to be in the Google Meet/Zoom
15 minutes before the scheduled time
1. The virtual rubik’s cube competition will be conducted through online platforms,
Google Meet/Zoom.
2. There will be no elimination round. The willing participants will be endorsed by the
subject teachers.
3. Maximum of three participants per grade level will compete all together in this virtual
rubik’s cube competition.
4. The invited Game Master will follow the rules used in our Math Competition except for
some revisions in determining the top 3 winners of this competition.
5. Participants should have a stable internet connection and may use one of these gadgets,
desktop, laptop, tablet, or cellphones. They are required to turn on their microphone and
camera throughout the competition. They are expected to be in the Google Meet/Zoom
15 minutes before the scheduled time
2. The virtual quiz bee will be conducted per grade level through online platforms, Google
Meet/Zoom and Classpoint App.
3. The questions for this quiz bee will cover only the first quarter topics of SLMs.
4. There will be only two phases in the competition: the Elimination round and the Final
round.
5. The first phase is the elimination round, where in maximum of 22 students per grade
level will participate who were endorsed by their subject teachers. In this round, there
will be 15 multiple choice type of questions. The final 10 will be determined based on
the computation and ranking of Classpoint’s competition mode.

6. The second phase is the final round. In this round, Classpoint’s “short answer” mode
will be used. There will be three sets of questions with 5 questions each and their
corresponding scores.
a. Super Easy Questions – 1 point each
b. Very Easy Questions – 3 points each
c. Easy Questions – 5 points each
7. Participants should have a stable internet connection and may use one of these gadgets,
desktop, laptop, tablet, or cellphones. They are required to turn on their microphone and
camera throughout the competition. They are expected to be in the Google Meet/Zoom
15 minutes before the scheduled time.
