World Environment Day-WED

Abstract:
In order to raise awareness about protecting the environment, every year June 5
is celebrated as World Environment Day as has been designated by the United
Nations (UN). The day also enables one to be more responsible in the way they
conduct themselves and treat the environment. India is the global host this year
and the theme is Beat Plastic Pollution. It started in 1974 and since then the day
has provided a global platform for like-minded people to reach out to each
other.

Introduction:
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and is the
United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the
protection of the environment.It is also called as Eco Day First held in 1974, it
has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issue such as
marine pollution, human overpopulation, global warming, sustainable
consumption and wildlife crime. World Environment Day is a global platform
for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each
year, the program has provided a theme and forum for businesses, non-
government organizations, communities, governments and celebrities to
advocate environmental causes.
World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations at the
Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment (5 –16 June 1972), that had
resulted from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the
environment. Two years later, in 1974 the first WED was held with the theme
"Only One Earth". Even though WED celebrations have been held annually
since 1974, in 1987 the idea for rotating the center of these activities through
selecting different host countries began

Conclusion:
The state of our environment is falling day by day due to pollution and
global warming. We must celebrate environment-friendly development to save
the environment for a better future in our country.

4.Don’t waste water
