In just 2-5 sentences, discuss the following concepts listed below.

1. Humanities
The concept "humanities" is derived from the Latin word "humanitas" and commonly applies to
painting, literature, music, architecture, dance, and theater—all of which stress human subjectivity and
individual expressiveness. The importance of humanities is to gain a global outlook by observing cultures
from across the world, to broaden the awareness and knowledge of other people's cultures and points of
view and to promote and develop the urban arts culture by learning the value of imagination.
2. Art
It is commonly used to refer to the study of visual art forms or the adoption of fundamental visual
literacy concepts. It applies to reviewing the type of a work of art for general audiences in order to
increase their appreciation of such works of art.

3. Stagecraft
The technological elements of theater production that involve scenery design, stage equipment,
lighting, music, costume design, and makeup are referred to as stagecraft. The aim of Stagecraft is to
teach you how to put on and start designing the scenic elements of a theatrical stage production. Keeping
in mind that this knowledge is useful in the fields of film, television, and stage productions in general.

4. Creation of Art
A work of art is created when a new mixture of elements in the medium is created (tones in
music, words in literature, paints on canvas, and so on). The elements occurred prior to existence, but not
in the same combination; creation is the re-formation of these previously created materials.

5. Purpose of Art
Art allows people to express themselves in nongrammatical ways that are not bound by the
formalities of spoken or written language. Unlike words, which come in sequences and each has a distinct
meaning, art offers a variety of shapes, images, and concepts with malleable meanings.

LEARNING ASSESSMENT No. 1

THE VALUE OF ARTS:
A REFLECTION

Directions: Write a reflective essay on the importance of Arts and try to capsulize your understanding of
the lesson.

What are arts? What are the significance and importance of arts? What is the purpose of art?
What does art appreciation teach us?

First let me define what is arts. Arts is the expression or application of human artistic talent and
creativity, usually in a visual medium such as painting or sculpture, creating works that are admired
primarily for their beauty or emotional strength. It is broadly defined as any action or product undertaken
by people for communicative or artistic purposes—something that expresses a thought, an emotion, or,
more broadly, a world view. It is a cultural aspect, with its architecture representing economic and social
substrates.
Art is necessary because imagination is at the heart of a child's education. It aids in the
development of motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and has a significant effect on their social and
emotional development. It also improves their cognitive growth, and will benefit their math skills and
other similar subjects. People are more hopeful about their futures when they are exposed to art. Art
should be used to help promote an inspirational message, inspiring people to do better things in life. It
should serve as a means of dialogue between individuals, focusing on common problems for the
betterment of humanity. Inspirational music is the most artistic medium of expression. Art is very
intimate, evoking various emotions in different people. It brings meaning to our lives and makes us
appreciate our surroundings. Its recognition increases our quality of life and helps us feel healthy,
according to scientific studies. We strengthen our problem-solving abilities and open our eyes to new
thoughts as we make art.
The aim of art is to represent oneself. It is a method of expressing one's thoughts and emotions. It
can make a political, moral, or even humorous point.
Art appreciation is particularly important for a variety of causes. It is a good way to learn about
the work's origins and the time span in which it was created. Artists' work often reflects their own
concerns as well as societal issues. What counts as art is not what you see, but what you let others see.
You can steal something in any art form if you can improve it. Painting is seen rather than feeling art, and
poetry is seen rather than seen painting. Art is the one thing that is serious in the world.

Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. – Thomas Merton
