GENERAL PROVISIONS Part A3 CLASSIFICATION OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES A3.1_ Principles of classification ‘The classification of a building or part ofa bulding is determined by the purpos signed, constructed or adapted to be used. 3.2. Classifications Buildings are classified as flows: Class 4: one or more buldings which in association constiute— (@) Class 1a —a single dwelling being— (9 adetached house; or {one of a group of two or more attached dwellings, each being a building separated by a fre-esiting wall, including a row house, terrce house, own house or vila unit; oF (b) Class 1b — ()aboarding house, guest house, hostel or the tke— (A) with a total area of alt loors not exceeding 300 m# measured over the enclosing walls ofthe Class 1b; and (8) _inwhich not more than 12 persons would ordinary be resident; or (i) 4.0r more single dwelings locatod on one allotment and used for short-term holiday accommodation, ‘which are not located above or below another duling or another Class of bulding other than a private garage.
