Dear Parents and Guardians,

We’re almost to spring break! I hope you’re able to relax a little bit and enjoy the
break.

We had a wide range of topics this month for our counselor classroom lessons. In
our kindergarten classes, we read Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse and talked about the
importance of saying sorry when we make mistakes.

In first and second grade, we started learning/reviewing about big problems vs. little
problems and how we can learn to solve little problems independently. We are going
to continue learning about ways to resolve conflicts over the next few months.

Our third graders and fifth graders learned a few tips and tricks for taking tests and
how to reduce test-based anxiety. One of the biggest take-aways I hope they
learned was that establishing good study habits now will help them in the future, as
well.

Fourth grade discussed the differences between healthy and unhealthy ways of
dealing with stress.

And…last but not least, our cute sixth graders were able to practice opening locks to
help prepare them for the middle school. Lockers are one of the biggest stressors
for students starting middle school, so if you have a padlock at home, encourage your
sixth grader to practice! Hopefully this will help them start middle school with one less
thing to worry about.

Thanks for all you do!

We have great students here at Wellsville Elementary!
