Abstract
The hybrid double-skin tubular column (DSTC) is composed of an external tube made of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP),
an internal tube made of steel, and a concrete infill. It is a novel form of construction developed in recent years, mainly used
for seismic resistance and corrosion resistance. The DSTCs are employed widely in bridges and offshore structures. The two
tubes help to provide dual confinement and improve the structure's service life, in addition, to reduce the cost of repair and
maintenance. As a result, in this paper, an attempt has been made to objectively assess the efficiency of experimental research
on the hybrid FRP–Concrete–Steel (HFCS) tubular column constrained by the techniques concerning different parameters.
The paper constructively provides the state-of-the-art study on the HFCS tubular column subjected to monotonic axial loading
and cyclic loading. For this study, an experimental database has been created focused on the effects of variables, such as the
slenderness column ratio, concrete strength, Stress–Strain behavior, collapse failure, design or cross section, confinement,
fiber orientation, and FRP thickness. The review findings suggest that future research in this study includes the fiber angles
away from the hoop direction, creep and shrinkage of the infill, and non-circular members related to cyclic and lateral loading.
