A PERFECTLY INTEGRATED MOBILE MIXING UNIT FOR THE
PRODUCTION OF CONCRETE TO EXACTING SPECIFICATIONS
In blending the two purposes of mixing and towing,
Winget designers have been particularly successful in
preventing the two functions from conflicting. Notable
features of the Winget 3J-T trailer include :—
Specially designed Mixing Drum The shell is cast
in special Meehanite. Internal mixing elements are
provided to give a mixing performance exactly the
same as in the standard model. Somewhat different
drum shaft bearings are employed, although the same
single stauffer lubrication scheme is used, and the
trunnion assembly is constant.
Rigid, light, sturdy chassis assembly The principle of
welded-up steel tube and plate construction is used in a
particularly effective manner. Continuous side frames
carry the trunnion bearings at the top, thus setting the
load squarely on those points designed to take it, and the
mountings for the road gear at the bottom. The whole
assembly of chassis, engine mounting, towing gear,
and road equipment, forms a specially rigid, light
structure.
First-class Road Gear Tyres.—Heavy-duty, large-
diameter pneumatic tyres and tubes fitted to pressed
steel disc-type wheels mounted on ball or roller bearing
hubs, carried each end of a single, straight-through,
solid, square section steel axle.

Brakes.—8-in. diameter and Ferodo lined. Operation
is via Bowden cable control fitted with lubrication
nipples and both fine and coarse adjustments. A com-
pensating device ensures even application of the
braking movement.
Suspension.—By heavy-duty high quality cantilever
leaf springs, anchored to the chassis at one end, and to
the axle at the other.
Tow Bar.—A very strong yet simple housing and attach-
ment for the towpole is provided, allowing for quick
coupling and release. Fixing is by means of a substan-
tial pin which passes through and locates the towpole in
the socket, whilst the pin itself is secured in position by
a wing-nut. By means of totally enclosed balanced
helical springs, the towing eye is made to float and
transmit movement to the overrun brakes without
" snatch " or " hunting." Towing height 1ft. 91in.
Choice of Engine There is a choice of water-cooled
or air-cooled Petrol or Diesel engines as available, to
suit your present spares and service requirements. All
the qualities of the transmission of the standard mixer
are retained. Refinements in the methods of adjusting
chain tension, and in the location of the tool box, etc.,
are also provided.
