1. From first principles show that in applying Newton Raphson Power Flow, Jacobian
can be sub divided into four sub-matrices; which can be directly obtained by inspection
from the admittance matrix by taking practical dependence of Real Power on voltage
angle 8 and Reactive Power on Voltage Magnitude V leading to Fast Decoupled power
flow(FDPF).

Impedance matrix of the system is as given below in per unit.
Apply guass siedel (GS) technique for 1 step of iteration and then determine potentials at
buses 2, 3 and 4; considering a flat start. Then connect a solar photovoltaic plant at bus 4
that maintains voltage obtained at the end of one iteration of GS, injecting 0.3 + jO (in pu)
power into system. Now for the modified system derive sub jacobians in applying FDPF
and estimate voltages at buses 2 and 3.

2. Consider the system shown in figure 2. Form the Ybus and hence develop Zbus.
Generator is operating at its rated terminal voltage. A three phase bolted fault occurs at
bus 2. Determine the fault current magnitude. Also determine SCC of Circuit Breakers to
be located at buses I and 2.

3. A 100-kVA, 400-volt D/230-volt Y transformer with a solidly grounded neutral is
connected between the source and line shown in figure 3. The transformer Ie akage
reactance is Xeq=0.10 per unit; winding resistances and exciting current are neglected.
Using the transformer ratings as base quantities, draw the per-unit sequence networks and
calculate the phase a source current la.

6.A) A three-phase, 50-Hz, 1000-MY A, 33-kV, 6-pole steam turbine-generating unit has
an H constant of 8 p.u.-s. Determine: (a) (J)synand comsyn(b)
; the kinetic energy in joules
stored in the rotating masses at synchronous speed; (c) the mechanical angular
acceleration am and electrical angular acceleration a if the unit is operating at
synchronous speed with an accelerating power of 750 MW.
B)The generating unit is initially operating at Pmpu = Pepu = 0.8 per unit, co= co syns and
8 = 10° when a fault reduces the generator electrical power output by 60%. Determine the
power angle 8 five cycles after the fault commences. Assume that the accelerating power
remains constant during the fault: Also assume that co(t)pu = 1.0 in the swing equation
