To Whom it May Concern:

I had the pleasure of teaching Angel Alvarez in both my AVID class at El Capitan High School.
In my two years of teaching Angel he impresses me with his ability to be articulate about
difficult concepts and texts, his sensitivity to the nuances within literature, and his passion for
reading, writing, and creative expression- both in and out of the classroom. Angel Alvarez is
talented at considering the subtleties within literature, film, and the purpose behind the author's
works.

Throughout the year, he was an active participant in our discussions, and he always supported his
peers. His caring nature and personality allow him to work well with others in a team setting, as
he always respects others' opinions even when they differ from his own. Angel excels as an
AVID mentor and tutor.

Angel is an active, outgoing presence in class with a great sense of humor. His cheerful nature
and openness to feedback means he's always learning and growing as a learner, an impressive
strength that will continue to serve him well in college and beyond. I am certain that he is going
to continue to do great and creative things in his future. I highly recommend him for admission
to your undergraduate program. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at
