INTRODUCTORY RITES
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Priest: The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Priest: We are gathered here today for a very happy occasion; two
members of our Christian community will be united in the Holy
Sacrament of Matrimony. Dearly beloved Dan & Danica, God is love and
in some mystifying ways has drawn you together in His love, for the love
to grow. The Lord will help you forge a future for your love, if you both
share in the commitment, to love and honor one another in good times
and bad, in poverty and plenty, in sickness and in health, for better and
for worse this covenant we celebrate.
PENITENTIAL RITES
All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I
have sinned through my own faults, in my thoughts, and in my words, in
what I have done and in what I have failed to do so. And I ask the
Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, all the angels and saints and to you my
brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.
All: Amen
Choir/All:
Amen
Priest: Let us pray: Almighty God, hear our prayers for Dan & Danica who
have come here today to be united in the Sacrament of Marriage.
Increase their faith in You and in each other as they pledge their love
today. May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that love. We
ask this through Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives, and reigns with
You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever
First Reading
Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most
excellent way. 1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not
have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have
the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and
if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am
nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to
hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is
patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It
does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it
keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will
cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is
knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in
part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11
When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I reasoned
like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
12
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to
face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of
these is love. This is the Word of the Lord
Let our response be: I will proclaim your greatness, my God and King; I
will thank You forever and ever.
Second Reading
From the Letter to the Hebrews (13:1-8)
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to
show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown
hospitality to angels without knowing it. 3 Continue to remember those in
prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are
mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. 4 Marriage should be
honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the
Commentator: He who lives in love lives in God and God in him. Please
rise to honor the holy Gospel.
