NACINOPA - FS 1 Learning Episode 1
NACINOPA - FS 1 Learning Episode 1
To realize the Intended Learning Outcome, work my way through these steps:
1. Visit a school. Look into facilities and support learning areas in the campus, then in the
classroom.
2. Observe and use the checklist as you move around the school premises.
OBSERVE
As you move around the campus, observations forms are provided for you to
document your observations. It is advised that you read the entire worksheet before
proceeding to the school site. A good understanding of the activities and tasks to be
accomplished in the activity sheets will yield better learning results.
Familiarize yourself with the different areas and facilities of the school. Check the columns to
indicate their availability. Give a brief description of those that are available, and say how
each will contribute to the students’ learning and development
1. Look at the walls of the classroom. What are posted on the walls? What heroes,
religious figures, lessons, Visual aids, announcements, do you see posted?
As I looked at each room individually, I noticed only one and that was the similarity of what
was posted in each room such as the bulletin board containing different quotes,
accomplishments, classroom officer, birthday corner and so on. I also saw the image of
famous heroes in history such as Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Juan Luna, Apolinario Mabini
and others. I also saw many religious figures posted above and visual aids where it is placed
in the cabinet. The current events and announcements of the school can be found on the board
display. Yes, I have seen them posted inside the classroom and it is one of the most center of
attraction when you enter each room.
2. Examine how the pieces of furniture are arranged. Where is the teacher's table
located? How are the tables and chairs/ desks arranged?
The teacher’s table is usually located at the front and it is positioned in the middle.
Meanwhile, the armchairs are divided into two parts and the chairs are aligned with each
other so you can see the students from the front and the arrangement of each chair is close to
each other so that the chairs are just next to each other. Students are close to each other when
you sit in it. Therefore, I approve of the arrangement of the armchairs because the space is
not too large to separate them.
In my observation, almost every classroom has its own television so it is not so difficult to
present PPT and watch various educational programs. There are also blackboards, manila
paper, cartolina, chalk, books and other learning materials available that can be used anytime
by students
4. Observe the students. How many are occupying one room?
Since it is not yet possible to conduct traditional face-to-face classes due to pandemic, I
conducted my observation in an online setting and based on my observations, the virtual
classroom consists of no more than 40-50 students.
When I personally visited Don Manuel, I noticed not all classrooms were well-lit and well-
ventilated. There is a room that has not been much renovated or repaired so it is not yet
pleasant to look at due to lack of adequate facilities. Meanwhile, I was amazed at the other
room because it was clean and well-arranged and looked conducive and comfortable to all
learners. The only problem is that the facility inside the classroom is not yet complete.

ANALYZE
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the
students going to school? What are you conclusions?
The place where the learning process takes place has a big impact on students' learning
especially if it is not pleasing to the eye or there is no proper ventilation to study comfortably.
It is important that the actual school environment and classrooms are very accommodating
for all learners, have good facilities and have a clean environment so that students can study
freely without any hindrances because it can possibly affect the entire learning process.
How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/How does
this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
According to skinner in his behaviorism theory, environments have a great impact and
influence on students' learning. Therefore, it is important as a facilitator of learning to
carefully study the environmental and learning condition of the classroom to ensure the
effective learning of students especially now that teachers are rapidly shifting from traditional
face to face classes to new learning modalities. We will also notice that there has been a
significant change in the behavior and study habits of students in the online setting compared
to the offline setting. Therefore, the teacher should think of different methods for students to
learn effectively despite the changes in the Philippine education system. This is proof that the
environment affects student’s behavior and learning.
REFLECT
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why? Why
not?
Yes, despite what I have observed in the actual school environment, I still want to teach and
practice my profession in the school where I am deployed right now because at the end of the
day, the student’s learning is still up to me and it is one of my responsibility as a future
teacher. Therefore, it still depends on me how I execute and plan my daily lesson to be more
effective with my teaching strategies and learning materials that I will use. Although I have
noticed a shortage in the school facility, I am willing to fill it to fulfill my role as future
educator.
Based on my own opinion, the school campus that is more conducive to learning is the type
of school that has proper and complete facilities because it will help a lot so that the school
can immediately meet and support the different needs of each student within the school. .
Students will learn more easily if they have various buildings or school facilities available
anytime that can contribute to student's learning such as library, laboratory, computer room
and so on.
In my opinion, the classroom that is more conducive to learning is the type of classroom that
is well ventilated and has complete instructional equipment because it will greatly help the
teacher to quickly meet the needs of students within the classroom. Students will be more
motivated to study if the classroom is comfortable, highly ventilated and they have available
learning materials available that will help them to learn effectively.
I think, I can only accomplish my answer to number 3 if I faithfully perform my duties and
responsibilities as a future teacher which is to support and provide all their needs such as
learning materials that can be useful and helpful to their learning. This includes my strategic
plan in teaching and being creative in utilization of all the available learning resources so that
I can get the full attention and interest of my students as I facilitate and manage the
classroom. I think it will encourage them to learn and engage in the learning process.
I have learned that in order for the teacher to create a conducive learning environment, his or
her class must be made interactive, fun and engaging with students. I have proven that the
conduciveness of a classroom is not only based on the complete facilities that students can
use but also on the quality of its teaching. What is the worth of having a proper and complete
facilities or learning materials if the teacher does not even know how to utilize them. Thus,
the conduciveness of the classroom depends on the teaching strategies of the teachers and
how he can use all the available learning resources he has to create a classroom in which
students are interested in participating in the discussion.
The display board, or what we more commonly refer to as bulletin board, is one of the
most readily available and versatile learning resources.
To achieve that Intended Learning Outcomes, work your way through these steps:
1. Examine for bulletin board displays. Include samples of those found at the entrance, lobby,
hallways and classrooms. 2. Pick one and evaluate the display. 3. Propose enhancements to
make the display more effective.
OBSERVE
1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays do
you see?
As I go around the school, I notice that there are various board displays that can be seen lined
up in the pathway at the entrance of the main gate. There are over ten bulletin boards reserved
for each department.
2. Where are the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can see
them?
The board displays can be seen at the entrance of the main gate and it is located in the
pathway of the students, teacher and principal so I can say that it will quickly catch the
attention of anyone passing by because it is easy to see.
3. What are the displays about? What key messages do they convey? What images and
colors do you see How are the pieces of information and images arranged?
The board display posted shows and contains various school achievements, accomplishments,
action plans, class officers in each department and monthly themes of school activities and
events. The main purpose or message of the board display is to encourage students to
participate in various extracurricular activities of the school. On each display board, there are
different design concepts and it is often used with colorful images and designs to be more
attractive to any passing students. Meanwhile, the photos are arranged according to different
categories and most of them are collaged for more noticeable attention.
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
Bulletin Board used a variety of printed photos, cut -out letters, colorful paper and tarpaulin. I
also noticed that each display board used a border and it had its own design and color.
5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the like)
According to my observation, No, I did not notice any mistakes in terms of technical and
grammatical because it was created perfectly except from the use of too bright colors.
Yes, as I read the board display of the Filipino Department, I quickly understood what was
stated there. In fact, I admire the accomplishment of teachers even when there was a
pandemic.
7. Think about what got your attention. Why did it get your attention?
Aside from the traditional alibata board display design, the events and activities organized by
the school are also noteworthy. What caught my attention the most was the accomplishment
report of the Filipino Department which listed the achievements they have achieved despite
the pandemic. I suddenly saw my future self in this profession in case I successfully finished
the course I was taking.

Signature of Evaluator over Printed Name:
Based on your suggestions, make your board display lay-out. You may present your output
through any of these:
Based on what I have observed within the school, the ultimate purpose of the board display is
to capture the public’s attention on posted school accomplishments, upcoming or completed
activities on and off the school campus. It also aims to provide information or inform viewers
or readers on the events inside and outside the school.
2. Did the board display design reflect the likes/ interests of its target audience? Why?
Why not?
Yes, because with the layout and design of the board display, it is very pleasing to the public
and will definitely get the full attention and interest of the audience immediately. They have
also posted here the various upcoming activities so that students have the option in which
they are interested in participating. Since their target audience is secondary school students,
They used a variety of colorful designs to get their attention right away.
3. Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why?
Why not?
Yes, because the target audience of the board display is the students so it is only right to use
clear and simple language so that the public can quickly understand what the school wants to
convey or inform. Deep words are useless anyway if it has no impact on the readers and it
does not persuade the public. Therefore, it is much more appropriate to use simple words to
reach many people and to get the attention of the target audience immediately as soon as they
read the content of the board display.
One of the things I noticed on the board display they made at the Filipino Department, it was
too faded and old. Therefore, all I can advise is that they change it regularly and the events
that can be seen on their board display should always be updated every month. There was no
problem with the layout and design because I saw their uniqueness and creativity.
REFLECT
1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
2. Which of the skills you named in #1 do you already have? Recall your past
experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
In my opinion, the skills that I already have are being good at communicating because
as a future teacher, these are the very first qualities that a teacher should have. Based
on my own experience in making board displays, I practice being good in
communication by making or thinking of a slogan or theme that is often used in
making board displays whenever there are events. I also participate in slogan making
so it is very easy for me to think of a theme that will encourage the public. That’s how
I practice my communication skills in making board display.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on
how you can improve on or acquire these skills.
In my opinion, being artistic is the skills that I have to develop and improve because I
am not that good when it comes to the concept of designing and I admit that I have a
hard time thinking of layout and design so until now I still need to practice it so that I
can use it in making effective display board.
Concrete Steps Will You Take On How You Can Improve On Or Acquire These Skills
1. Visualize and Plan the concept/ theme of your design.
2. Make a first draft before trying to make a design
3. Try and try again until the design is polished
4. Get an idea from the work of others and create and think of your own design
5. Practice well and train yourself in making and thinking of different concepts
