URINARY TRACT DISEASE IN NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA

BACKGROUND
Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) are
simply symptomatic or
asymptomatic colonization of the
kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder
or/and the urethra by
microorganisms, commonly
bacteria. When these infections
affect the kidney, it is known as
pyelonephritis.
RESULTS
For low risk, Males had
59.2% and females had 12%.
Moderate Risk, Males had
32.4% and females had
34.9%. For high risk , males
had 8.5% and females had
53%.

OBJECTIVE
To calculate the percentile risk of
medically inclined apparently
healthy individuals acquiring
urinary tract infections.

METHODOLOGY
It was a cross-sectional study
who's sample population was
selected by Balloting from
amongst health facilities in
north central region Nigeria.
Data was obtained using a
validated data collection tool.
Written consent was sought on
every questionnaire. There were
160 participants in this study,
with only 154 questionnaires
meeting the requirements to be
considered properly filled.
Organization and analysis of
data was done using an SPSS
version 20.
