As, however, this type of emergency equipment 1s Liable to be neglected, you are required to appoint a person in charge; familiarize him with the handling of this system and thereby conduct its periodical Anspection properly. eeDAILY HANDLING A Eire is an unforeseen accident, breaking out at the least expected moment. It is, therefore, necessary that this fire extinguishing system should always be kept ready for performing its full functions in case of a fire, and fe ts by no means for mere ornament, or for peace of mind, but is a machine for extinguish- ing a fire. For this purpose it is necessary to inspect this equipment and keep it in good working order. 2.1 Daily inspection 2.1.1 Inepect the equipment for ‘damage, deformation, and missing parts. 2.1.2 Inspect the legibility of the inscriptions on the nameplate and the description plate placed in the given position, 2.1.3 Ascartain whether or not the surroundings of the spot of operation are kept in good order and are free from obstacles. -2-2. IW CASE OF A FIRE “pire!” at that moment, most people are thrown into confusion and take a mistaken step in putting out the fire. Therefore, it 1s necessary to train the persons in charge so that they can learn the right method of handling this Fire extinguishing system against the emergency of @ fire and put it into practice. 3.1 Procedure’ of fire extinguishing operations 3.1.1 When a fire breaks out in the galley hood exhaust duct, take action in the following order. 1) Stop the ny exhaust fan, ( 2) Close all the fire d 8) At the COs cylinders (2) Pall out the safety pin of the operating lever. IE anything defective has been found, take a corrective measure innediately- 5.2 Annual inepection 5.2.1 Weighing CO, cylinder ssses Remove and weigh the CO, cylinder to measure the quantity of its CO, contents Prior to ts measurement read carefully 4.1.2 "Removing Co, cylinder” and 4.1.2 "Reattachment of CO, cylinder (2) Measure the quantity after placing the cylinder slowly on a platform scale (for over 50 kg) (Perform this operation with special care filled cylinder weighs 24 kg because one C05. in total.) =n,@ Judgement of propriety If the total weight of the co, cylinder has decreased from the rated weight stamped on its nameplate by more than 108 (0.7 kg), refill the Co, with Co, cylinder up to its full rated capacity. 5.2.2 Ventilation test Testing method a @ e Rénove the CO, cylinder, following the paragraph 4.1.1 "Removing CO, cylinder” and connect a Dressure source of air or nitrogen with the copper tube. Apply pressure to the inside of it and ascertain that the cap covering the orifice of the discharge nozzle is taken off and thereby the ventilation is made.
