Subject

To share knowledge about 128 SID 22 FMI 3 alarm.

Failure/Problem

Difficult to start.

Symptom

When operation the machine, the alarm was appear and engine was stall.

History

Engine oil consumption before overhaul.

Cause & analysis

This problem can cause following


-Wire cable of crank sensor is open or short circuit.
-Crank sensor defective and incorrectly mounted.
-EECU defective
-Lose connector
-Vibration dumper teeth damage or incorrectly mounted.

Action

When starting the engine about a few minute, 128 SID 22 FMI 3 alarm is appear.
This alarm is crank speed sensor error.
So, we disconnected the cam position sensor socket.
At this time, engine was stop.
We check the electrical circuit for crank sensor and measure the resistance of sensor.It was normal.
And then, we adjust the clearance of between crank sensor and dumper teeth but the alarm was appear
because sensor was abnormal function.
Finally, we changed with new sensor and then tested the engine.
The alarm was disappeared and this problem was OK.
