What is Mr?

Market research is a systematic process of collecting, analysing and interpreting information. The
information could be about a target market, consumers, competitors and the industry as a whole.

What is primary data collection give example?

Primary data is a type of data that is collected by researchers directly from main sources through
interviews, surveys, experiments, etc. Primary data are usually collected from the source—where
the data originally originates from and are regarded as the best kind of data in research.

Examples: For example, surveys and focus group discussions.

What do you mean by literature survey?

A literature review is a survey of scholarly sources (such as books, journal articles, and theses)
related to a specific topic or research question. It is often written as part of a thesis, dissertation, or
research paper, in order to situate your work in relation to existing knowledge.

What is secondary data collection? Give examples.

Secondary data is the data that has already been collected through primary sources and made
readily available for researchers to use for their own research. It is a type of data that has already
been collected in the past.

Examples:  Tax records and social security data.

 Census data.
 Electoral statistics.
 Health records.
What are the problems faced by the Indian researcher?

 Lack of Scientific Training. ...

 Insufficient Interaction. ...
 Lack of Confidence: ...
 Lack of code of conduct: ...
 The outlook of the researcher/research student: ...
 Lack of confidence to take up a new study especially explorative study

What is the scope of MR?

It studies the making and marketing of the product. It studies the colour, size, shape,
quality, packaging, brand name and price of the product. It also deals with product
modification, product innovation, product life cycle, etc. The product is modified
(changed) as per the needs and wants of the consumers.

What do you mean by hypothesis?

A hypothesis is an assumption, an idea that is proposed for the sake of argument so that it
can be tested to see if it might be true. In the scientific method, the hypothesis is
constructed before any applicable research has been done, apart from a basic background
review.
What is Type 1 error and Type 2 error?

A Type I error means rejecting the null hypothesis when it's actually true, while a Type II
error means failing to reject the null hypothesis when it's actually false.

What is null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis?

the null hypothesis of a test always predicts no effect or no relationship between

variables, while the alternative hypothesis states your research prediction of an effect or
relationship.

What do you mean by altitude scales?

Attitude scales provide a quantitative measurement of attitudes, opinions or values by

summarising numerical scores given by researchers to people's responses to sets of
statements exploring dimensions of an underlying theme.

What is a sample?

sample is a group of people, objects, or items that are taken from a larger population for
measurement.

What do you mean by sample design?

A sample design is a definite plan for obtaining a sample from a given population. It
refers to the technique or the procedure the researcher would adopt in selecting items for
the sample

What is sample unit and sample frame?

A sampling unit is one of the units into which an aggregate is divided for the purpose of
sampling, each unit being regarded as individual and indivisible when the selection is
made

A sampling frame is a list or source from which you will select your sample participants
in a pre-determined method.

What do you mean by perpetual mapping?

A perceptual map is a chart used by market researchers and businesses to depict and
understand how target customers view and feel about a given brand or product. Perceptual
maps can also be referred to as product positioning maps.

What is likert scales?

A Likert scale is a unidimensional scale that researchers use to collect respondents'

attitudes and opinions

What is editing, coding and tabulation and classification?

Editing is the process of examining the data collected in questionnaires/schedules to
detect errors and omissions and to see that they are corrected and the schedules are ready
for tabulation.

Coding in market research is the process of taking open-ended comments and

categorizing them to allow for data analysis. Many telephone surveys and online surveys
include at least a few open-ended questions

Tabulation is a systematic and logical representation of numeric data in rows and columns
to facilitate comparison and statistical analysis.

What do you mean by scientific research?

Scientific research is the research performed by applying systematic and constructed

scientific methods to obtain, analyze, and interpret data

Example:

What is a survey, census and schedules?

A survey is a data collection tool used to gather information about individuals, commonly
used in market research to collect self-reported data from study participants.

A census is an attempt to list all elements in a group and to measure one or more
characteristics of those elements.

Schedule is the tool or instrument used to collect data from the respondents while
interview is conducted

What do you mean by questionnaire?

A questionnaire is a list of questions that is put to a member of the target population;

either presented orally or in writing.

What is a report?

A research report is a publication that reports on the findings of a research project or

alternatively scientific observations on or about a subject.

Explain any two types of report?

An informal report is a document shared within an organization. Informal reports are

usually relatively short. Memos, emails, and papers are all examples of informal reports

A formal report is an official report that contains detailed information, research, and data
necessary to make business decisions. This report is generally written for the purpose of
solving a problem.

Explain any 2 items in report?

Table of contents and executive summary.
