Overview
Gamification in the classroom is an emerging trend that
is being seen in most schools across the country. Since
technology is so prominent in student's personal lives, it
only makes sense that we would start seeing it in the
classroom too. Research has begun to look at the
positive ways in which gaming can be implemented into
the elementary education classroom. Gaming has been
proven through research to have many cognitive,
emotional, social, and motivational benefits for students.

worlds for students to explore and learn with! This
helps with 21st century skills of creativity,
collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.
Similarly, Minecraft education helps students
become better digital citizens.

prodigy
Prodigy helps students practice math skills in
a game-based way. It uses motivation
features such as badges and rewards for
students in the game. This is an online tool
that is meant for students from 1st to 8th
grade. With the wizard-like character,
students will solve a variety of math "battles"
in order to complete the game.

Code.org
Code.org is a fun, free, and creative online tool
that allows students to learn coding and
computer science. It allows students as
young as 1st grade to learn to design their own
games and apps. It helps students with their
21st century skills of creativity and critical
thinking.
