Agriculture in the Philippines

Agriculture plays a crucial role in developing

countries' economies and provides their rural
populations with the principal source of food, income and employment. However, to
achieve food security, poverty alleviation and overall sustainable development,
improvements in agriculture and land use are fundamental. Agriculture represents a
very significant change in human history; given the advantages that agriculture and its
goods have provided us since then, it is arguable that without our inclusion in and
development of agriculture we would have grown to this level. As with our ancient
predecessors, who started this tradition, the most important part of agriculture for us
today continues to provide food for the people. Food is a very important part of our
societies; it is a vital necessity of any living being. Agriculture is especially important
because it is our primary source of food supply.
