ACTIVITY: Complete the following statements below based on what you have learned about exogenic
process. Copy and write your answers on a clean sheet of paper.
1. Name five examples of agents of erosion and give a brief description for each agent.
a. Wind – The most active agent erosion in a desert, open field, and beaches.
b. Waves – can carry large amount of sand, rock, particles and shells.
c. Water – major agents of erosion from falling drops to rushing rivers, the running river has a
great impact on the Earth’s surface.
d. Soil – The agents of soil erosion are the same as the agents of all types of erosion.
e. Mass Wasting – occurs when gravity pulls rock and soil down the slope.
2. Differentiate the following:
a. Physical weathering vs. chemical weathering
answer: The difference is that physical weathering is a process that weathers rock without a
chemical reaction or change. Chemical weathering changes the identity of rocks and it
involves a chemical reaction or change.
b. weathering vs. erosion
answer: Weathering is the process of decomposing, breaking up, or changing the color of rocks.
So, if a rock is changed or broken but stays where it is, it is called weathering. If the pieces of
weathered rock are moved away, it is called erosion
