Interdependence between Plants and Animals

Plants and animals depend on each other.

How do animals depend on plants?

- Animals depend on plants for shelter.
Plant materials are sometimes used to make homes and shelters. Houses and
nests are homes. E.g. nests for birds and houses for people.

- Many animals depend upon plants for their food.

All herbivores and omnivores depend on plants for food. The cow eats grass,
the rabbit eats carrots, the caterpillar eats leaves and people eat fruits and
vegetables such as bora and pumpkin.

- Animals and humans depend on plants for oxygen.

Plants breathe in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen.
