Interpretation of Test Results:

The observed differences in Applied voltage, Line Current, Input Power, Torque, Speed, Output Power, and Calculated
Efficiency between compound DC motors operating under cumulative and differential field excitation show that there
is a noticeable difference in Applied voltage, Line Current, Input Power, Torque, Speed, Output Power, and Calculated
Efficiency. It demonstrates that when employed under differential field excitation, a compound DC motor is effective
and efficient.
Conclusion:
As a result, we conclude that the electromechanical characteristics of compound DC motors in operation
are as follows:
Cumulative field excitation and differential field excitation are both controlled by the
DC motors with series and shunt-field winding excitations: principles Additionally, it demonstrates how
Compound wound motors are utilized to achieve accurate speed regulation and torque characteristics that
are not possible with other types of motors.
With either a series-field or a shunt-field motor, this is conceivable. It's also critical to comprehend the
proper magnetic field.
Excitation polarity of combined-field windings differs from that of series-field or shunt-field motors.
Question(s) and Answer(s):
9.1 Verify the characteristics of compound DC motor using software simulation (DL8330SW) and data
acquisition module and compare the result under each mode of field excitation.

Both field coils supply the needed quantity of flux for the armature to connect with.
coil and produces the torque required to allow rotation at the correct speed. As far as we know
A compound wound DC motor is made up of a shunt wound motor and a permanent magnet motor.
To get the better off properties of both types, a DC motor and a series-wound DC motor are used. As if it
were a
The speed regulation characteristic of a shunt wound DC motor is particularly efficient.
The DC series motor, on the other hand, has a high beginning torque.

9.2 What will happen to the output voltage of the field excitation varies?

The output voltage in a dc shunt-wound generator varies inversely as load current varies. The output voltage decreases
as load current increases because the voltage drop across the armature resistance increases.

9.3 If the zero-load voltage of a separately excited dc generator is 110 volts at 1350 rev/min, what will be
the voltage if the speed increases to 1600 rev/min? If the speed decreases to 110 rev/min?

9.4 What are the commercial and industrial applications of compound DC motor?
Compound DC motors offer both high starting torque and good speed control, making compound DC
motors suitable for a variety of applications such as business machines, machine tools, agitators, shears,
presses, and reciprocating machines.
