    The Data Observatory is an instrument
    designed by the Center for the
    systematic collection of data to make the
    problem of gender-based violence,
    particularly sexual violence, even more
    visible and to create the necessary
    infrastructure to facilitate the monitoring
    of the evolution of this behavior in the
    country.

    EDUCATION FOR MIDDLE
    SCHOOL YOUTH IN PUERTO RICO
    We offer sexual violence prevention
    education to youth ages 12-15 in middle
    schools. The curriculum,entitled
    “Mujeres y Varones Previniendo
    la Violencia Sexual” (Women and Men
    Preventing Sexual Violence, or MVP)
    teaches students about healthy
    relationships, gender equity, sexual
    violence protective factors, and the role
    of bystanders to intervene in situations
    that may lead to sexual violence. MVP is
    being redesigned to offer it virtually.

    COMMISSION ON THE STATUS
    OF WOMEN (CSW)
    The Commission on the Status of Women
    (CSW) held its Sixty-fifth session virtually
    and in person from New York City from
    March 15-26, 2021. The Rape Crisis
    Center, through its director, Dr. Maria
    Rebecca Ward, participated in the panel
    "Dual Pandemics: Psychological
    Approaches to Gender-Based Violence
    during Covid-19". This forum was held

    GENDER VIOLENCE
    PREVENTION, ADVOCACY,
    RESCUE AND EDUCATION
    COMMITTEE (PARE COMMITTEE)
    PARE is the Committee for the
    Prevention, Support, Rescue and
    Education of Gender Violence, and
    serves as an Advisory Committee to the
    Governor of Puerto Rico, once a state of
    emergency is declared due to the
    increase of cases of gender violence in
    the country. At PARE, the Center leads
    the Sexual Violence subcommittees and
    the status of resource mapping.
