CNC M475F

NUMERICAL CONTROL FOR PROFILING APPLICATIONS

The CNC-System M475F is especially designed for the control of flame or

plasma cutting machines and similar profiling applications.

Programs may be entered using the keyboard or by downloading from a

computer. Standard shapes make workshop programming easy. Subroutines,
Macros and parametric programming result in short but powerful programs. In all
cases programs can be edited on the machine.

A 2-line LCD display is provided to show program name, program details, axis
positions or set-up data. The keyboard allows entering numerical data or text
data.

TECHNICAL DATA

Display 2-line LCD display, 20 characters per line.

Keyboard 16 multiple acting keys. A shift key and a

letter key change the meaning of each key.
Insert and delete characters function.

Menu for the assistance of the operator with the

following items:

1. Select program
2. Run
3. Data link
4. Standard shapes
5. MDI / Editor
6. Teach-in
7. Set-up data
8. Inputs and Outputs
9. PLC

Select Program Used to choose program to be executed.

Includes fixed programs for return to zero or to go
to any of 4 home positions.

Automatic operation Axis movement and activation auxiliary functions
under program control. Program runs from
pressing start button until programmed stop or
until an abnormal condition is detected.

Manual operation Each axis can be jogged as long as push-button is

held under control of speed selector. Pushbuttons
can be programmed in PLC.

Retrace Only effective in automatic mode. Machine moves

back on the same contour irrespective of number
of program blocks.

Cut recovery The program may be interrupted due to loss of cut

or by the operator. Machine can be jogged to
facilitate torch replacement. Finally program may
be resumed.

RS 232 interface For connection of serial data peripherals.

Baudrate is selectable between 300 and
19200. Standard protocol for up- or downloading
from PC.
Advanced ANCOM protocol for background
communication and integrated production control.

Manual Data Input Via keyboard and LCD display offering:

• Insertion and deletion of single characters

or complete blocks, overtyping of existing
information.
• Up and down movement of display (scrolling)
Input and recall of subroutines and macros
and parametric programming.

Teach-in To generate a program from an existing pattern by

using an optical tracer head.

2 ANC Ltd November 1995

Set-up data Input of software limits, references points. Reset
or reset of axes, acceleration and deceleration
ramps, minimum speed, rapid speed, offset
for punch and powder marker, change of
program format. Scaling factors for axes and
servo loop gain. Baudrate and parity.

Diagnostics Display of all inputs, outputs with manual test via

keyboard, indication of software status.

PROGRAMMING

Format ISO or ESSI. ESSI programs are converted to ISO

during execution.

Programming 0.1 mm. In ESSI format optionally 1mm. In ISO

Resolution format decimal point programming.

Axis resolution 0.01mm, display 0.1 mm

Repeatability better than 0.1mm

Absolute accuracy depending on measuring system. Overall error

can be compensated by axis scaling factor

Maximum 100m
programming distance

Maximum radius 100m

Maximum travelling 100m

distance of axis

Maximum rapid 400m/min

traverse speed

Path programming Absolute or incremental, metric or imperial

Interpolation Linear and circular with speed vector correction

Mirror image and Distance commands can be mirrored in one or

co-ordinate swap both axes, or axes can be swapped. Combination
of both is possible.

Dwell time Programmable in 0.1s up to 99.9s

ANC Ltd November 1995 3

Kerf compensation Adjustable in step of 0.1mm up to 19.9mm.
Program must indicate whether left or right
compensation active.

Speed Programmable over 0...40m/min. Programmed

speed can be varied by operator over 0 ... 127%
by means of a panel-mounted or external pot.

Corner ramp down Automatic speed reduction on corner where

direction changes more than 15 degrees or if
programmed radius too small. Always effective in
rapid traverse. A switched output is available
during corner ramping

Subroutines Any number of subroutines in normal or parametric

form can be programmed. A subroutine can be
repeated up to 100 times. Subroutines can call
other subroutines with up to 10 deep nesting.

Macros Macros are pre-programmed parts which can be

Standard shapes run directly under operator control, or they can be
called from within a program which also supplies
the parameter values. 50 standardised shapes.
Size dimensions are input by programming
parameters. Special shapes can optionally be
created in consultation with manufacturer.

PLC Programmable Logic Control for programming up

to 128 inputs and up to 128 outputs. Timers,
counters, approx. 2000 lines of instructions,
messages.

HARDWARE

Design features: A cardrack contains plug-in epoxy glass-fibre printed circuit

boards carrying integrated circuits in CMOS and ALS-technology. A 32-bit
microprocessor with a 16-bitbus controls all functions. All logical features are
realised in software residing in EPROMs. The system software is retained even
at powerdown.

The user program, set-up data internal functions etc. reside in CMOS-RAM
stores with battery back-up. These data are retained in excess of 6 months after
a power break. When power is up, the batteries are recharged.

Inputs Axis position feedback is via optical shaft encoders
( +5 V ). Opto-coupler isolation. All other inputs are +24V
DC signals.

Output Outputs for axis servo amplifiers ±10V

All relay outputs are for 24V DC relays.

Power 110V, 230V a.c. +10%..-15%

50...60Hz, consumption less than 35W

Interference RC-filters in all inputs, mains input filters and software

suppression filters, double checking of signals etc.

Ambient Operation - 0...45 OC, Storage - 5..60 OC.

temperature Temperature changes to be slower than 1 degree/min.
Condensation must be avoided.

Humidity 20....80% without condensation.

OPTIONAL FEATURES

Tangent control The control rotates the torch assembly insuch a way that
it always points in the direction of travel. The position
feedback is via resolver. Output is +- 10V signal for axis
servo. Programming is not necessary as direction is
calculated from x and y commands.
