Book: The Karate Kid

Novelization: B.B.Hiller
Publisher: Knight
Date of establishment:1984
Background:
The story is talking about a boy called Daniel who moves to a new town with her mum, and he met a
beautiful blond girl Ali in a local school, but it draws the attention of her arrogant ex-boyfriend
(Johnny) and use his karate to harass Daniel. After then he felt the despair of school. When he wants
to give up all hope, his most effective tutor Mr. Miyagi appears, who helps Daniel to repel the bully
and teach him how to play karate. In the end, he won the bully from the competition also he gets
love and friendship at the same time

Message:
The story surrounds a topic that’s bully, this problem can’t be ignored. In this world, many people
have been bullied by their peers at school. On the other hand, a bully can divide physically and.
mentally. However, no matter which types of the bully, both will give huge damage to the victim.
Maybe u will wonder what they didn’t counterattack, but the truth is that they can’t, why? It is
because they were defeated by fear! When they are facing bully, they just hide in their innermost
world, neither tell anyone nor stand out to face it bravely. In the end, it just will make a vicious circle
and nothing will be changed. On the other hand, people use a wrong way to treat the problem, like
Daniel, he sprays water on Johnny with a hose, in the end, Johnny pursue Daniel down the street
and savagely beat him

Refection and favorite things:

In the story, I have learned that we need to face adversity head-on and be more confident in
ourselves, and always be positive. When we are facing fear we must stand out to overcome them,
because fear, not fear, is that u are weak, u have no confidence to face it, just Constantly escape
from your problem, but nothing was changed, at the end u will lose the way and become more
helpless, therefore, being more confident, trust yourself and being brave is the first thing we should
do, so that u will always be positive, never afraid again like Daniel, although his leg almost waste in
last scenes, but he trusts Himself and has a positive view, have not flinched, at the end, he won, use
one leg, that is the power of belief
The last decisive battle is my favorite scene in the book because it makes me feel excited and
passionate, he uses one leg to win the competition, which’s incredible, and in his last post, that’s
cool ...just love how Daniel uses the Crane Kick truly as a last resort, a last desperate move if you
will. His left leg was a mess, he is in pain and could barely stand. He had nothing left in him to win
the watch with, except this final move. His left leg is destroyed so lifting it in the air to adopt the
crane stance allowed him to stop limping getting rid of his major weakness in the process to connect
the kick with his right foot! As soon as he performs the kick, he starts limping again. I guess you can
say that he puts everything on the line to win. Had he not landed that kick, he would have certainly
lost the match, but I guess you have to be willing to risk it all if you want to truly win in life! I just find
that poetic! It has everything that comes with never giving up. the physical pain that doesn’t hurt as
bad when U win, the earned respect of your instructor who knows everything you went through to
get to this point and who has learned to love you as a person and not just a student and “we did it”

Conclusion:
Actually, there has a movie vision first. Including me, I think many people know this book
because of the movie. The movie was very famous since the 80S.In addition to karate kid one, it also
establishes karate kid two, three, and four seen any of the sequels so I can’t talk about the quality of
those but I kind of always felt like the original karate kid was meant to be a sandstone movie. I'm not
the biggest fan of that movie but I understand why it’s considered an 80s classic and I just don’t
really feel like there was much of a need to continue the story. Obviously, it’s one of those cases
where the original is so popular that they had to keep going.
I will recommend this book to anyone because this book not only learn the principles of life
but also learn taekwondo from it. On the other hand, I totally believe that as long as someone has
difficulties in life, you will be inspired after reading this book. Facing your life with a positive attitude
