as in the Systems Operation and the Testing and Adjusting, look at the printing date on the back cover

When tests and adjustments are made to the torque converter, the
parking brake must be OFF. To prevent movement of the machine and
personal injury do the procedure that follows.

1. Lower the bucket to the ground.

2. Put blocks in front of and behind the wheels.

3. Install the anti-pivot link.

4. Let only approved personnel on the machine and keep other personnel off of the machine and in
clear view of the operator.

temperature of operation. Be sure the linkage adjustments are correct before tests are made.

When tests and adjustments are made to the transmission, the parking

3. Install the anti-pivot link.

4. Remove front and rear axle shafts (except for stall tests).

5. Let only approved personnel on the machine and keep other personnel off of the machine and in
clear view of the operator.

NOTE: All tests and adjustments must be made with the oil in the hydraulic control system at normal
temperature of operation. Be sure the linkage adjustments are correct before tests are made.

Rotation is counterclockwise when seen from drive end

Type of pump: Gear

Number of sections: One

For test, use SAE 10W oil at 49°C (120°F)

Output 97 liter/min (25.6 U.S. gpm) minimum

At a speed of 1800 rpm

At a pressure of 2550 kPa (370 psi)

Transmission Control Linkage Adjustments

Transmission control linkage adjustment should be made only with the


engine OFF. Accidental transmission engagement and sudden machine
movement could cause personal injury.

Direction Linkage

1. Put direction selection spool (1) in the NEUTRAL position.

2. Make an adjustment to the length of rod (2) so that distance (A) from the center line of pin (4) to
the face of cam (5) is 80.7 mm (3.18 in). This should center cam (5) between neutralizer fingers.

3. Install the cable housing in neutralizer housing (6) so that distance (C) is 12.0 mm (.47 in).

Direction Control Linkage (at Transmission)


(1) Direction selection spool. (2) Rod. (3) Cable assembly. (4) Pin. (5) Cam. (6) Neutralizer housing. (A) 80.7 mm (3.18
in). (B) 14.0 mm (.55 in). (C) 12.0 mm (.47 in).

4. Install cable assembly (3) in cam (5) so that distance (B) is 14.0 mm (.55 in). Tighten both nuts on
cam (5) to 8 ± 5 N·m (6 ± 4 lb ft).

5. With direction selection spool (1) in the NEUTRAL position, loosen nuts (7). Put transmission
selector lever in the NEUTRAL position.

6. Engage (push in) the neutral lock on the right side of the steering column (below the steering
wheel).

7. Tighten nuts (7) to 38 ± 15 N·m (28 ± 11 lb ft) on cable assembly (3).

Direction Control Linkage (at steering column)


(3) Cable assembly. (7) Nuts.

Speed Linkage

1. Loosen nuts (4) on cable assembly (1).

2. Remove bolts (6) and washers.

3. Loosen nut (14) until it is off threads (15) on cable assembly (1).

4. Move seal (9) and washer (13) off threads (15).

5. Turn bracket (5) until it is off threads (15).

Speed Control Linkage


(1) Cable assembly. (2) Bolt. (3) Nut. (4) Nuts. (A) 90.0 mm (3.54 in).

6. Install cable in yoke end (7) so that distance (B) is 12.0 mm (.47 in).

7. Install bracket (5) on threads (15) until bracket face contacts the transmission face, then back off
one full turn. Install seal (9), washer (13) and nut (14). Tighten nut (14) to 38 ± 15 N·m (28 ± 11 lb
ft).

8. Put speed selection spool (10) in the FIRST SPEED position.

9. Fasten bracket (5) to transmission case with bolts (6) and washers.

10. Put transmission selector lever in the FIRST SPEED position.

11. Make an adjustment to bolt (2), so that distance (A) is 90.0 mm (3.54 in).

12. Tighten nut (3) to hold bolt (2) in place.

13. Make an adjustment to the plastic collar on the transmission selector lever, so that the arrow
points to FIRST SPEED.
