Dear Customers,

Attached are the vibration analysis results from TD006, TD007 and TD008 as at February 2022.

In summary, there are no serious issues that have been detected on the compressors, hydraulic
pump or drill heads aboard these machines. A number of isolated increases in gear-mesh, vane-
pass and 1X levels have been detected at individual locations; however these are likely to be load-
related given that there is no transmission of these frequencies to neighbouring measurement
locations. In order to assist us in determining whether isolated issues exist in future, it is
recommended that a ‘Shock Pulse’ (Parameter 106 in the Omnitrend Task Manager)
measurement task be added to every measurement location in the database.

Notable changes in condition have been detailed at the rear of this report.

Please contact us if you have any queries.

Vibration Analysis Report
INTRODUCTION
AIT Condition Monitoring Services standard ISO 10816-1
The following report outlines the condition of the equipment monitored as a result of the survey
carried out in March 2011. From this survey a detailed analysis was done to diagnose any alarmed
machine condition. The machine condition severity is described below in Section 2.

MACHINE SEVERITY CLASSIFICATION

Alarm Types and Levels

GOOD and FAIR indicate that there are no detected problems; however these alarm levels are
intended to give the client a general feel for the overall condition of each machine.

Corrective actions should be taken on those machines having vibration exceeding ALARM 1, while
those exceeding ALARM 2 are felt to be exposed to such high levels as to render potentially
catastrophic failure (therefore, demanding immediate attention).

FAIR alarm levels translated to 'Warning' alarms in the database. (Indicated with yellow
highlighting) ALARM 1 alarm levels are translated to 'Alert' alarms in the database. (Indicated with
Orange highlighting)

ALARM 2 alarm levels are translated to 'Danger' alarms in the database. (Indicated with Red
highlighting)

Reference: Technical Associates of Charlotte.

Classifications level :
Priority 1 – Alarm 2
• Vibration exceeds danger alarm levels;
• Significant increase in vibration trends.
• Repair required immediately

Priority 2 – Alarm1
• Vibration exceeds alert alarm levels;
• Moderate increase in vibration trends – When Applicable.
• Carry out inspections

• Bearing fault – not urgent small amplitudes Repair required or inspection on any
available opportunity.

Priority 3 – Good/Fair
• Vibration trends are acceptable and / or stable.
• Machines that fall into this category generally have acceptable vibration levels and
require no immediate action.
INTERPRETATION

Firstly, we must determine whether faults exist with a machine based on its overall vibration
levels compared to machine vibration standards. Secondly, if a fault is so deemed to exist, we

then diagnose its type. We may then determine what corrective action can be taken either to

eliminate the problemMonitoring Services
or at least reduce its impact. standard ISO 10816-1

Condition monitoring works on the basis of change in vibration amplitude, not absolute
values. Trending is the storage of vibration signatures recorded at specific time intervals and
plotting the change in vibration levels vs. time. An upward trend in level indicates a developing
problem.

The most important principles for vibration condition monitoring may be briefly summarised
as: the Frequency indicates the type of problem (i.e. Ball Pass Frequencies indicate wear or
spalling of the rolling elements of a ball bearing), and the Amplitude indicates the severity of
the problem. Typically, this amplitude is viewed as a relative quantity to previous
measurements of the same machine in ‘good’ condition. The absolute value is less meaningful,
as each machine has an individual character, much the same as an individual fingerprint.

ISO SEVERITY CHARTS

During the course of the survey, overall measurements are taken that can be compared to ISO
standards, such as the overall velocity severity standard ISO 10816-1. However comparison to
ISO is only used as a guide to the severity of vibration. The trend of each individual machine is
used as the primary indicator of machine condition.
