Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Science 11
I. LEARNING OUTCOME
E. Lesson Objectives:
At the end of the 60-minute discussion, the students should be able to:
1. describe the structure of the nucleus of an atom;
2. differentiate the three subatomic particles of an atom (proton, neutron, and electron); and
3. relate important application of subatomic particles between proton and electron associated to
everyday living.

ACTIVITY 1
“To further understand the content about structure of an
atom, let’s have another activity. With the same group,
you will be given a model of an atom, materials needed
and a guide questions that you are going to answer.
Kindly select a leader, secretary and reporter.”
“Time is up!”
(students doing the activity cooperatively)
EXPLAIN
An atom consists of a positively charged
nucleus surrounded by one or more
What is the charge of the nucleus of an atom?
negatively charged particles called electrons. The
number of protons found in the nucleus equals the
number of electrons that surround it, giving the atom a
neutral charge (neutrons have zero charge).

“None sir”
“Okay sir”

Assignment
Answer the following questions:
1. How did the concept of atomic number lead to the synthesis of new elements in the laboratory?
2. Research about nuclear reactions involved in the synthesis of new elements
3. Make an advance study about Polar and Non-Polar molecules.
