How do you think globalization affects you?

In the last few decades globalization has been very rapid, resulting in global economic,
social, political and cultural integration through developments in technology,
telecommunications, transport, etc. Human lives have been impacted in both positive and
negative ways.
The influence of globalization on me can be seen in our house today. Beginning with the
materials that we have. Most of the equipment and furniture is manufactured outside of the
Philippines. My comfortable bed and blanket were made in China from the moment I woke up in
the morning. The breakfast I eat, which often consists of coffee and bread, comes from a country
in Asia.
Globalization affects my life in more ways that imaginable. The clothes I have in my
closet are made from different countries across the globe. I believe in a religion that started in
Mecca at the start of 7th century CE. The food I eat are sometimes the main dish in other
cultures. Cultural influences lead to the difference in the habitual consumption of
certain foods and in traditions of preparation. Some of my favorite snacks are also imported. But
I’m proud to mention that the crops served in our table are grown in the Philippines which is also
shipped and traded all over the world. These crops are rice, corn, kamote, etc. Aside from food,
the things I own are also brought by globalization. My phone and laptop was manufactured by a
Chinese company in a factory over in China. In transportation, it made my life easier to go
anywhere. However, Philippines faced a problem in modern transporation such as traffic safety,
environmental problems, and inadequate public transportation facilities.
As for the negavite effects, better transport for individuals means easier transport for
viruses. Virus and disease is a large threat that we are still trying to deal with until now. The
pandemic we are facing today is brought by globalization. It has a big impact in our lives. On its
positive side, the cross-border flow of people, goods, money and information creates new wealth
and opportunity. On the negative side, though, it can exacerbate global disparities, enable
international terrorism and cross-border crime, and allow for the rapid spread of disease.
In my view, as a citizen of the Philippines, if our leaders make our economy more
advanced through foreign trade and technological development, globalization would make our
country a better place. Goals are possible to accomplish by doing this.
