Summary:

This study aimed at presenting the problems encountered by the college

of education students in the asynchronous learning modality at the University of

Rizal System. To achieve this aim, the researchers conducted a qualitative

interview to the selected 3rd year college students taking up Bachelor of

Secondary Education who had experienced asynchronous learning through the

use of Google Meet and standardized questionnaire. The results revealed that

majority of the students believed that there are some challenges in integrating

asynchronous learning. The study found out that these challenges are: online

learning is still new to them, it affects their learning goals, poor internet
IV

connection, noisy environment and distraction from either household chores or

the social media. The researchers came up with a suggestion as to how

asynchronous learning will be more effective if the teachers will be more

considerate to the number of activities to be passed and the deadline being set.

In view of the conclusions made on the basis of the findings of this study,

the following recommendations are given: To the teachers. Allow students to

have enough time to answer their learning task to avoid anxiety and incorporate

an enjoyable and entertaining discussions to motivate students. To the parents.

Give your child the full support that they need for this kind of learning set-up as it

is not as easy as the traditional face-to-face classes. To the students. Avoid

procrastination and practice time management in doing the assigned

requirements. To the schools. Provide stricter rules in implementing

asynchronous learning and have a skeletal schedule. To the future

researchers. They should conduct more researches related to this study,

because it will help the educational institution and the country in general to

improve asynchronous learning.

Keywords: asynchronous learning, problems, learning goals, internet

connection, deadline.
