Automaticity Warm-ups
Students begin each session with a Warm-up. The goal is to
promote speed of processing and automaticity for previously
acquired skills. Students choose one of two Warm-ups and try
to beat their highest score.

The following buttons and tools are available in every activity:
3-Step Instructional Branching Units adapt based on each student’s individual performance.
• Standard—This step, indicated by a green bar, is the first and most complex step in a unit. Students must
complete it successfully to progress.
• Guided Practice—This step, indicated by a blue bar, is reached if errors are made in the Standard step. It provides
scaffolded practice based on those errors. If successful, the student returns to the Standard step.
• Direct Instruction—This step, indicated by a yellow bar, is reached if errors are made in the Guided Practice step.
It explicitly teaches the target skill and supports skill acquisition with additional scaffolding. Then, the student
returns to the Standard step. If a student receives instructional support two or more times, a Lexia Lesson icon
will appear next to their name in the myLexia Class Overview.

School-to-Home Tips
• Encourage Core5 for home use. This is a great way for
students who are behind in skills to reach their end-of-
year benchmark.
• Use the Home Use Letters (available on the Core5
Resources Hub) to explain the program to families.
Letters are available in seven languages.
• Emphasize that home use of Lexia Core5 Reading is for
the enrolled student only—not siblings or other family
members.
