Lesson Plan in Science (Electricity)

I. Objectives/Intended Learning Outcomes

1. Tell what is Electricity.

2. Describe how Electricity works.

3. State the different types of Electricity.

4. Differentiate conductors and insulators.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: How Electricity work

B. Reference: BKIDS (https://kids.britannica.com/kids/article/electricity/353091)

C. Science Concepts:

1. Electricity is define as the flow of electron or electric current.

2. Current same as electricity or flow of electron.

D. Science Processes: Observing, Making Operational Definition

E. Materials: Battery, wire, electrical tape, light etc.

III. Procedure

1. Preparatory Activity

1. Review of Prior Learning/Past Learning

2. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation
1.1 Bring children to observe what will happen in the experimentation of batteries, wires and light.

1.2 Ask the children to report their observation in the class.

2. Pre-laboratory Activities

2.1. Let the learners recall the standards during a laboratory activity.

2.2. Present all the materials needed.

2.3. Distribute the activity sheet to each group.

3. Laboratory Activity

3.1 Using the activity as a guide, each group work cooperatively.

3.2 Activity 1: Light, How the light works?

3.3 Each group records observation for exhibit and reporting.

4. Post- Laboratory Activity

4.1 After the report, display the work in front of the classroom.
4.2 Analyze with the whole class each group result.

4.3 Make agreements on the results, that lead to conceptualization.

5. Conceptualization

5.1 Throw the following questions of the class to elicit their formed concepts.

a. What is needed for the light to work? (Current is needed by the light to work.)

b. How Electricity works? (Electricity results when electrons are pushed and pulled from atom to atom.)
c. Where in nature can we see Electricity? (Electricity can be seen in nature in a bolt of lightning)

6. Application

6.1 Can you live without Electricity? Try to imagine.

6.2 What if we don't have lights? Try to imagine.

6.3 Do we need Electricity? Try to imagine.

IV. Assessment of Learning Outcomes

1. What is Conductor? List examples of good conductors.

2. What is Insulator? List examples of good insulators.

3. Why do you think there is insulators outside the wires?

4. Why do you think the pots and pans that we are using in cooking are made up of metals?

V. Assignment

At home, draw four objects that you see that uses Electricity.
