STRUCTURE USING VEDIC PRINCIPLES

Architecture using Vedic principles or Vastu is called Maharishi Vastu Architecture .Maharishi Vastu
Architecture (MVA) is a set of architectural and planning principles based on "ancient Sanskrit texts".
Maharishi Vastu Architecture is also called "Maharishi Sthapatya Veda", "Fortune-Creating" buildings and
homes. MVA has strict rules governing the orientation and proportions of a building. This architecture
ensures that a building or community will have only nourishing influences on its occupants. Some Vedic
Principles are Right Direction, The human brain is sensitive to orientation, and responds positively to the
influence of the rising sun. This natural tendency of the brain to function with reference to direction follows
the same laws of Maharishi Vedic architecture that guide the structuring dynamics of creation.

Maharishi Vastu homes are aligned with the cardinal directions to bring about auspicious influences such as
good health, affluence, and fulfillment. Second is the Right Placement of Room, the strongest influence of
Natural Law on earth comes from the sun. As it crosses the sky it generates differing qualities of energy.
Homes should be designed so that the different energies of the sun correspond to the specific function and
activity in each room, and in this way natural law will support every aspect of our daily activity. When these
laws of nature are properly applied then, for example, when one enters the study one will feel more alert, in
the living room one will feel naturally comfortable . Maharishi Vedic architecture considers these factors of
right placement to ensure that every aspect of daily activity in the home or office building is in harmony
with Natural Law. Third, Right Proportion, Proportion is a key to successful design in nature. Right
proportion and measurement in buildings strengthen the connection of our individual intelligence toyour
though energy. When a house is designed the dimensions of the building are calculated using the ancient
mathematical formulas of Vastu Vidya of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture. These Vedic formulas
take into consideration, among other factors, the relationship of the house owner with the sun, moon,
planets, and stars to ensure a perfect resonance between the cosmic structures and all components of the
house. An important component of Maharishi Vedic architecture is building sustainably with natural, non-
toxic materials suitable to the local climatic conditions. This includes using materials such as wood, brick,
rammed earth and adobe, as well as natural finishes such as clay stucco, marble, ceramic tile, natural fiber
for carpets, curtains and furniture, and healthy, natural, non-toxic paints and glues.

Special Elements of Maharishi Buildings are Brahmasthan — Many structures in nature have a silent core of
intelligence, and the activity of the structure is arranged around this core. This core is called a Brahmasthan,
or place where wholeness resides. Great example of core is Courtyard, which acts a center core. Vastu
Fence — Since a Maharishi Vastu building is designed to be in harmony with the universe the influence
from the building naturally extends into the landscape, providing greater protection and coherence beyond
the front door. A Vastu fence or wall marks the extension of this influence. Its proportions and
measurements are set according to the ancient formulas of Sthapatya Veda. Kalash — The Kalash, a Vedic
form installed on the roof of a house, is a signature of Maharishi Vedic architecture. Meaning a vessel in
Sanskrit, the Kalash enlivens the connection of the house with the cosmos.

One of the example of Maharishi Vedic architecture is Vidhan Bhavan The majestic work combines a
modern sensibility with themes derived from traditional architecture in harmonium way. The tradition and
mythological beliefs of the country is conceived in the design in the form of Navgraha mandal, the Hindu
pattern of nine squares within a square which describes the universe and nine planets (some of them mythic).
The nine grahas of the Navgraha mandal are surya, Chandra, kuja (mangala), Buddha, curve, sukha, shani,
rahu and ketu. Each compartment of square is dedicated to one god. The basic concept lies in the depiction
of whole M.P. state within one building which is highest political representation of M.P. hence represents by
Navgraha mandal. The Navgraha mandal is complimented by a number of other features which in turn
represents the state and the building. The form of the biggest assembly chamber (the Vidhan Sabha) was
from the great Buddhist stupa at Sanchi. The plan is a series of garden within gardens, with the
administrative offices defining a pattern of nine compartments
