Assignment 1

1. Ano ang Republic Act (RA) 1425 o mas kilala sa tawag na Rizal Law?
According to the Official Gazette (1956), The Republic Act (RA) 1425 is the
act of including all of the works and writings of Jose Rizal such as Noli Me Tangere
and El Filibusterismo to all public and private schools, college and universities
courses on life.

2. Bigyan ng buod ang batas sa pamamagitan ng pagbanggit ng mga importanteng


probisyon nito o magbanggit marahil ng lima o anim na focal points nito
These were all according to the Official Gazette (1956):
1. The novels Noli Me tangere and El Filibusterismo shall be included in the
curriculum of all schools, colleges and universities, public or private. They must
use the original or unexpurgated editions of the novels under the collegiate
courses or their English translation shall be used as basic texts.
2. All schools, colleges and universities both private and public must keep enough
copies of the original and unexpurgated editions of Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo or their translations in English and other writings of Rizal will be
included in the list of approved books for required reading for all.
3. The Board of National Education shall cause the translation of Noli Me Tangere,
El Filibusterismo, and other writings of Rizal into English, Tagalog, and the
principal Philippine dialects. This will cause the works to be printed at a popular
edition and at a cheaper price. It will also cause it to be free of charge and allow
it to be distributed around the country especially to people who would want to
read it. They will be able to receive it coming from their own Purok organizations
and Barrio Councils present in the country.
4. Nothing in this Act shall be construed as amendment or repealing section nine
hundred twenty-seven of the Administrative Code, prohibiting the discussion of
religious doctrines by public school teachers and other person engaged in any
public school.
5. The sum of three hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be
appropriated out of any fund not otherwise appropriated in the National Treasury
to carry out the purposes of this Act.

3. Saliksikin rin kung sino ang pangunahing proponents ng batas sa Senate at sa


Lower house.
The two main proponents from the Senate and Lower house were Senator
Claro M. Recto and Senator Jose P. Laurel who was the chairman for Committee
of Education at that time.

4. Kailan inaprubahan ito at sinong pangulo ng Pilipinas ang pumirha rito.


This was approved on June 12, 1956 by former President Ramon
Magsaysay.
