General Instructions:
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. Question paper is divided into four sections: Section A contains 10 Objective type questions each
carry 1 mark, Section B contains 3 questions each carry 2 marks, Section C contains 3 questions
each carry 4 marks and Section D contains 2 questions each carry 6 marks.

SECTION – A(1 mark each)

1. If A and B are two sets, then A ∩ (A U B) equals

14. Let f(x) = x and g(x) = x be two functions defined over the set of non negative real

SECTION – D(6 marks each)

17. In a survey of 200 students of a school, it was found that 120 study Mathematics, 90 study
Physics and 70 study Chemistry, 40 study Mathematics and Physics, 30 study Physics and
Chemistry, 50 study Chemistry and Mathematics and 20 none of these subjects. Find the
(i) number of students who study all the three subjects.
(ii) number of students who study exactly one subject.
(iii) number of students who study exactly two subjects.

18. Prove the following by using the principle of mathematical induction for all n  N:
32n+2 – 8n – 9 is divisible by 8.
