3 Arup Response
Dated: 20th April 2017
Owner: Spring Xu, Nils Clementsen
Proposed response:
The proposed remedial measures are not acceptable. The quality of the leftover concrete and the
tunnel grout flow will not be suitable to be incorporated into the permanent works and provide the
required durability.
We propose that 2 layers X25 @ 150mm centres are post-installed into the base slab with Hilti HIT-
HY 200 with 900mm embedment as shown on the sketch below. This is to be implemented on all
three sides of the section of the slab still to be constructed.
All post-installed bars should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations
and the recommendations given in the response to RFI M-BAC-RFI-002504 (Arup ref: 20170206
RFI-LW-00).
The contractor should carry out a cover meter survey to determine the reinforcement layout to help
avoid post-drilling into cast-in reinforcement. It is not permitted to cut any cast-in reinforcement.
The above technical proposal is only applicable for this NCR and is only possible due to the design
forces at this particular location.
