The overall goal is to get the students to recognize like terms and then, be able to add and subtract these like
terms.

II. PA or Common Core Standards

CC.2.2.HS.D.2: Write expressions in equivalent forms to solve problems.

III. Learning Objectives: Objectives must be written using observable verbs

 The students will be able to solve mathematical equations by adding or subtracting like terms.

IV. Materials

 7.2 Homework
 7.2 Quizizz
 Whiteboard
 Microsoft Teams
 Monoprice mouse

V. Lesson Development
A. Introduction

- Greet the students as they join in Microsoft Teams.

- Today, we are going to go finish the 7.2 Homework on adding and subtracting algebraic
expressions, specifically dealing with like terms. Once we are finished, we will play a Quizizz
game.
B. Lesson development (activities, procedures)

- Tell the students to get out their Chapter 7.2 Homework from yesterday.
- Reexplain to the students the definition of a term and the distributive property.
- Work the students through the remaining problems.
- Once finished, have the students log onto Quizizz. Winner gets a Homework pass.
C. Evidence of differentiated instruction (content, process, product, or learning environment)

- Product: I have created a Quizizz for this class. Quizizz is similar to a Kahoot! This application
turns a quiz into a fun and competitive game. There are 10 questions for this game. Students
get scored on how fast they answer the question and if they get it correct. At the end, the
scores are tallied and the person with the highest score wins.

D. Closure (summary)

- Conclude by making sure that none of the students of any questions. Also, remind the
students that we will continue tomorrow with the 7.2 Worksheet.

VI. Assessment/evaluation

- I will be evaluating my students based off how well they do on the Quizizz game. The
application is pretty straight forward, and it allows me to see where my students are
struggling. I hope the students will find this as a fun way to review the material.

VII. Modifications or accommodations

- No accommodations were needed for this lesson.

VIII. Self-evaluation

- I really enjoyed using the Quizizz app. This was my first time using it with the class, and
honestly, I got a great response from it. Also, most of the students performed really well on it,
which was great to see. I was confident explaining the notes too. Overall, I feel the lesson was
a success.
