Sub: Monitoring of Dozers Utilization for compaction of Coal

piles by providing GPS on Dozers

Referring to the IOM vide Ref. No.: 01/CC/FM/CGM dated 04.01.2020 for avoiding quality
deterioration during storage by proper compaction, quality monitoring and management of
stockpiles. In this regard all stations should maintain proper compaction of the coal piles in the
yard ensuring compaction index of 0.6-0.7.

For ensuring prescribed compaction index monitoring of dozer utilization is one measure and
the same was deliberated during interaction with CMD and Director (Operations) in the Fuel
Meet 2020 held on 11th Jan’2020.

Simhadri has installed GPS on one of its Dozer (no-6) for monitoring the dozer utilization and
successfully tested. (Details attached at Annexure-1). By Installing GPS on Dozers, the
movement of Dozers on the coal piles for compaction can be monitored as shown in the
attachment and improved to the prescribed norms there by quality deterioration of the stacked
coal can be avoided.

In view of the above, all stations are requested to Install GPS on Dozers and monitor Dozer
utilization regarding Compaction of the coal piles.

 Easy in generation of the reports

⮚ Easy in carrying Analysis of the effective utilization of the dozers
⮚ Handy Information regarding the Dozers.
⮚ Information can be retrieved on the mobile apps and desktop also (Four
members can open the app in desktop/mobile at one instant)
⮚ No effect on the regular dozer operation with the installation of the GPS
device
⮚ Capable of adapting to Pile compaction compliance for preserving GCV.

GPS device in the Dozer a username and password will be provided to 4

devices to access the app in either mobile or desktop.

Further action Plan for effective utilization of dozers:

⮚ Need to find the mileage of the dozers
⮚ Based on this input , fuel consumption information will be incorporated
in the software
⮚ Device to be fixed on all other dozers to improve the effective usage of
dozers
