Answer the following questions:

1. What were Governor General Eulogio Despujol's reasons for ordering Rizal's
arrest?
_____Governor General Eulogio Despujol ordered Dr. Jose Rizal's arrest on July
6, 1892, after antifriar pamphlets were discovered in the luggage of his sister
Lucia, who had traveled with him from Hong Kong. He was held in Fort Santiago
for nine
days.____________________________________________________

2. Why did Rizal organize the La Liga Filipina? Do you think this would benefit the
Filipinos? How?
_____Doctor Jose Rizal founded La Liga Filipina in 1892 with the goal of uniting
the entire archipelago into one compact, vigorous, and homogeneous body;
mutual protection in times of need; defense against all violence and injustice;
encouragement of education, agriculture, and commerce; and study and
application of reforms. I do think that it would benefit the Filipinos in the long
run because just like Rizal, Filipinos at that time were also crying for justice and
with the help of La Liga Filipina, it would urge every Filipino to stand for what
they think is right for their motherland. Unfortunately, it failed as the colonial
government did not agree to any of its demands. Spain itself was undergoing a lot
of internal problems all that time, which could explain why it failed to heed the
Filipino’s petitions. The friars, on the other hand, were at the height of their
power and displayed even more arrogance in flaunting their influence. They had
neither the time nor the desire to listen to the voice of the
people._________________

live there it is because he did numerous things that have a great impact to them.

4. Do you believe Rizal's defense that he was not guilty of the charges of rebellion,
sedition, and conspiracy leveled against him during his military court trial by
the Spanish authorities? Why?
______No, I don’t believe Jose Rizal’s defense that he was not guilty of the
charges of rebellion wherein fact the moment that he saw his mother’s condition
during her arrest and the death of the GOMBURZA was inspired and lead to the
creation of his second novel, El Filibusterismo. This novel aims to awaken the
minds of his fellow countrymen and free them from the oppression of the
Spaniards. With regards to his advised with Dr. Pio Valenzuela, Jose Rizal’s
didn’t approve against their revolt is it because they lack the necessary equipment
and funds against the Spaniards and possibility of retaliation against all Filipino
patriots.__________________________________________________

5. What is your personal insight on the letter of Rizal for his brother Paciano?
______The letter of Rizal for his brother Paciano contains different things
pertaining to his last testament to his father, brother, and to his fate. Rizal was so
unfortunate to be labeled as traitor to the nation that he’s willing to die for. To be
honest, his letter to his older brother Paciano which he also considered as his
second father sounded so melancholic. Through all the years, Rizal was just so
grateful for all the self-sacrifice his brother did just for him to somehow live in
tranquility. Also, he felt sorry because he will die sooner thus, his brother will
carry out all of the burden. Moreover, with regards to his fate, it only shows that
the Novel that he created take an unexpected turn thus, facing charges that lead
to his
execution.________________________________________________
