LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to write at least four sentences about TV programmes, places, people, games or
M films using suitable adverbs of degree.
C By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to say a sentence about the phones using key phrases.
1. Write ‘Adjectives’ in centre of a mind map.
Pre-lesson 2. Elicit adjectives from previous lesson and write around mind map.
3. Pupils say any opposite adjectives they know. How many opposites can they match?
4. Activity 1:
a. Write: ‘very’, ‘really’, ‘quite’ on board.
b. Model sentences with words in context e.g. ‘I’m very/really interested in music’.
c. Ask: What kind of words go after very, really, quite?
d. Pupils read p.8, Key Phrases.
e. Draw table on board with headings TV programmes, Places, People, Games or Films.
f. Elicit examples of sentences about programmes, places etc.
g. Distribute worksheet. (SB page 8 Activity 3)
h. Pupils write at least four sentences about the things in the table. (DS)
i. They use their ideas and the key phrases.
j. Choose pupils to say a sentence.
Lesson delivery 5. Activity 2:
a. Pupils work in pairs. (SB page 8 Activity 4)
b. They memorise two of their sentences in previous activity then in pairs tell each other.
c. CCE: Financial Education – find out if pupils know the cost of a mobile phone. Give pairs of pupils the handout.
In turn, they say a sentence about the phones using Key Phrases. Ask if they think it’s important to have an
expensive phone. (Assessment)
6. Activity 3:
a. Pupils re-read the text on p.8, Activity 1, and find examples of: has got, have got, hasn’t got and haven’t got.
b. Choose pupils to give examples and to say if they are from Paul’s, Ben’s or Maria’s text or from Activity 2.
7. Activity 4:
a. Read the table in p.9, Activity 3 with pupils then they complete it.
b. Note how well pupils described places, people and objects when writing about them.
8. Pupils in small groups prepare 3–4 questions to ask you about things you have got.
Post lesson 9. Choose a leader from each group to ask two of their questions.
10. Pupils from other groups can’t repeat the same question.
