ver 150,000 tapes along with the records of movement transactions. Handled jour
nal record checks, records organization, compiled error results and tape metric
reports submitted via an online program (Lotus Notes) and MS-Access database. M
aintained and wrote procedures for department. Created workflow processes in Vi
sio to supplement written procedures for normal and troubleshooting operations.
Extended the life of server and tape backup equipment by optimizing maintenance
procedures. Trained and managed a team of 10 tape operators for tape library du
ties and conversion of tape media from closed container to open media to comply
with federal Sarbanes-Oxley legislation for a saving of over $10 million. Served
as deputy fire warden.
Results:
o Completed conversion of over 23,000 pieces of media within three months.
o Maintained an error rate of less than 1% in media transfers between onsite and
offsite data vendor (i.e. Iron Mountain).
o Completed exit of one data center being closed within schedule (tape transfer
and destruction).
