Summary and objective :

- In this Lab we got to Learn about the operating Principle of the Diode.
- we will demonstrate operation of a single-phase bridge rectifier, and a full-wave bridge
rectifier using two diodes and a center-tapped transformer.

- The first task we connected the R load single Phase bridge rectifier circuit , then we recorded
the results and draw the waveforms then we did the same thing after connecting R -L load
circuit. Finally, we used SIMULINK to verify our results.

- In Task two we connected the two -Phase full - wave rectifier implemented with two diodes
and center - tapped transformer circuit , Then recorded the results and draw waveforms and
verify results Using SIMULINK

# Discussion

- In the this table we did Single-phase bridge rectifier circuit using the resistive load Z
We got the result for voltage / current from DC voltmeter/ Current ammeter

Then measured the output power from this equation :

(E1 x l1)

85 x 0.5 A = 42.5 W

85x 0.48 A = 40.8 W

- Also we got the conduction angle from this equation :

360 tc
 here tc take from oscilloscope (delta).
16.67 ms
In this part the tc for Resistive (R) was 8.31 ms also same in Inductive (RL)

360× 8.3 ms
=174.92°
16.67 ms
And the last things we took ripple frequency from oscilloscope it was 120 HZ

- What is the effect of the inductive load on the operation of the circuit?
The current is getting smoother in the waveform

phase half-wave rectifier.

# Discussion

- In the this table we did Two-phase full-wave rectifier implemented with two diodes and a center-
tapped transformer) (WITH RESISTIVE LOADE ONLY )We got the result for voltage / current from DC
voltmeter/ Current ammeter

Then measured the output power from this equation :

(E1 x l1)

45 x 250m = 11.25 W

- Also we got the conduction angle from this equation :

360 tc
 here tc take fomr oscilloscope (delta).
16.67 ms
In this part the tc for Resistive (Z) was 8.2ms

360× 8.2 ms
=177.08°
16.67 ms
And the last things we took ripple frequency from oscilloscope it was 120 HZ

- Compare this to the output voltage of the full-wave bridge rectifier and explain the difference.
Almost half because center- tapped transformer

Review questions :
1. Give two differences between a full-wave rectifier and a half-wave rectifier.
-The voltage of full wave rectifier is double the half wave rectifier

- the efficiency of full wave is better of half wave

2. What will be the ripple frequency of a full-wave rectifier when the ac source frequency is 100
Hz?

Fripple =2*fs
= 2*100
= 200 Hz

Conclusion :

In conclusion , the laboratory was interesting and helpful to do, this lab experiment enabled me
to become To become familiar with the operating principles of the diode and how arranged to
build a full-wave bridge rectifier, full-wave rectifier implemented with two diodes and a center-
tapped transformer. Moreover experiment was useful for know operation of two types of full-
wave rectifier circuits, the bridge rectifier and the rectifier using two diodes and a center-
tapped transformer. finally there was some mistake and solve it . and we are looking forward to
gaining more and more knowledge about power electronic next lab .
