Guide to Unlock an Android device with forgotten

Lockscreen security PIN, Password/ Pattern, or
Fingerprint/ Face Unlock without wiping data.

Smartphones brought a lot of security features that allow users

to safely lock their phones using a password, PIN code, or a
swipe pattern. Newer devices have introduced even more
advanced technologies such as fingerprint scanner and face
recognition. However, contrary to locking, unlocking the device
after you’ve forgotten your credentials can be extremely
difficult. Don’t worry; you most probably won’t have to boot
your device to factory settings and losing all personal data, as
we compiled a concise list of methods to unlock your device.

It’s worth noting that despite running the Android operating

system, not all devices implement the same security settings
regarding the device’s protection. That’s why some devices will
require different techniques to bypass the Android locking
system.

When Do You Need to Bypass Lock Screen

Security?

Bypassing lock screen security, while providing back the

access to your smartphone, isn’t always the wisest idea.
However, there might be situations when it’s justified.

However, there are situations where this approach is ethically

permittable. Many times we lose track of our passwords
because, in the era of technology and internet, we use way too
many of them. Many people have owned their smartphones for
a long time and have valuable app history, chat logs, sweet
selfies, music, and other multimedia with no backup or SD card
to cover it. Booting the device back to the factory setting would
erase all the data and thus, the memories.

Forgetting your password, PIN, or lock pattern happens more

often than one would think. New technologies such as
fingerprint scanner and facial recognition have enabled us to
unlock our device in less than a second. That comfort often
leads to us forgetting manual passwords. While some devices
have special settings that require you to type your password
every three days or less, most of the devices don’t so once your
phone accidentally or purposely reboots, your device will ask
you to unlock it using a manual password, which you don’t
remember.

There are also situations where you might have found an old
device you’d like to use for some purpose but can’t remember
the password, because you haven’t used this device for a long
time.

In these times, use the following methods to unlock your

device without losing data. First, we will explain the safest and
easiest methods you can use. Then we will follow to more
complex guide which might need some advance knowledge.

Some methods also require using third-party software which

could compromise the stability of your device’s system and
erase data as if you performed the factory reset. So, we don’t
recommend using third-party software unless you know what
you are about to.

This guide is for educational purposes only. You shall not use
this on other people phones without permission. We are not
responsible for any legal trouble you might get into.

8 ways to Hack or Bypass Android

Lockscreen Security
1. Google’s “Find My Device” Website

This is the safest way to unlock an android with a forgotten

password. However, your device should have been enabled
“Find My Device” which most users kept enabled. it can still be
in the back of your mind when panic kicks in. That’s why we
highlighted how to unlock your device using Google’s built-in
security service.
Find My Device is built-in on most of the Android devices and
users’ best bet to get back to their phone’s functionality. It’s just
essential to be logged into your Google account, and online,
which you probably are. This feature is accessible through any
other smartphone, tablet, or a computer. Follow the steps
below to reset the password on your device.

1.
Go to Google Find My Device

2.
Click the “Lock” button (ironic, right?) when the website
locates your device. Sometimes, the application will face
difficulties locating your device for various reasons.
However, if it takes too long, make sure to refresh the page.
If your phone is compatible, it should take no more than five
attempts to locate and lock it.

3.
Once the phone is located and “Lock” button active, the
software will prompt you to select and enter a new
password, which will replace the pattern, PIN, or password.

4.
Repeat the password so Google can confirm you typed the
desired password completely.

5.
Click the “Lock” button again.

6.
The process takes a little longer. Still, you should be able to
log back to your device within five minutes.

It’s worth noting that we noticed this method doesn’t work with
Android 8.0 Oreo and above. However, as long as you run any
version up to Android Oreo, including Android 7.0 Nougat, you
should be able to reset easily and bypass the lock screen
pattern.

2. Samsung Find My Mobile Service (Only for

Samsung users)

Samsung users can also bypass password protection using

Find My Mobile service provided by Samsung to help users
unlock their screen. However, this feature works only if you’re
logged into your Samsung account. Here’s how to bypass the
lock screen protection using Find My Mobile.

Navigate to Find My Mobile website using your PC’s browser and log in
to your Samsung account.
Click “Lock My Screen” option, which is located on the left side.
Enter the new PIN and then tap the “Lock” button again. Wait a bit until
the new PIN gets created and try to unlock your phone again.

3. Using ADB to Delete Password File

This method requires a little more coding and “hacking” skills

to perform, but it can be fun and teach you how to do
something new. Android Debug Bridge (ADB) is intuitive
command-line Android developer use for coding and system
management of Android apps in Android Studio. However, to
be eligible for this method, you need to have the USB
debugging option activated in the phone before it got
permanently locked. You’ll need to install Android Studio to
perform this method.
Once Android Studio is installed, connect your device using USB cable,
and then navigate to the command prompt in the ADB installation folder.
Enter the command “adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key” and hit
“Enter.”
There, your device will now be unlocked and ready for use.

4. Use “pattern password disable zip file” for

Hacking And Bypassing Android Password/Pattern
/Face/PI

The “pattern password disable zip file” was developed by XDA

member piraterex. It works better if your device is rooted.
Follow the instruction below:

Download Pattern Password Disable zip on to your sdcard (using

your PC, as you can’t get into your phone, right )
Insert the sd card into your phone
Reboot into recovery mode
Flash the zip
Reboot
Done!

5. Use Aroma File manager.zip to remove Gesture

Pattern Or Password
Download and Copy Aroma File manager.zip to your memory card.
Open your recovery menu (press volume Down + Power button or
google “how to enter recovery for your device”)
There’ll b an option in recovery called “mount”. Tap on option and
then mount all the cache and everything it is there.
Then select “update” and select “apply update from SD/external” and
select aroma file manger.zip file that you downloaded using above
QR code above.
After Flashing or updating, the aroma file manager will open. Use volume
keys for up/down and power button 2 select like you use to get into
recovery.
In aroma File manager, Go to menu, which is located in the bottom strip
and then select Settings.
Go to bottom n select “mount all partition in startup ” then exit from
aroma file manager.
Now after exit, re-update that aroma file again and it will open again.
Go to data >> and then System.
Then find ‘gesture.key’ (for pattern lock) and ’password.key’ (for
password lock) then long touch on gesture.key or password.key and
sum option will be prompted, choose to delete and delete that file and
restart.

Note: If You See The Gesture Pattern Grid Or Password After

Restarting, Don’t Worry. Just Try Any Random Pattern Or
Password And it Should Unlock.

6. Bypass Lock Screen Using Emergency Call

If you have an older device running Android 5.0 and below, you
can use Emergency Call to bypass the lock screen system.
Locked devices still boast Emergency Call dialer which you can
use to unlock the device. Keep in mind that this process can
take a lot of time and be quite exhausting, but in the end, it’s
worth using for unlocking your device.

It is a security loophole of older Android systems, and Google

has addressed it by restricting it in the newer Android versions.
Nevertheless, it still works with the older version of android.

Press Emergency Call Dialer to dial an emergency number.

Type a string of characters, up to 10 characters (mostly asterisks).
Select the characters by double-tapping the string and select Copy.
Tap in the dialer again and paste the characters you copied, so the
characters double.
Continue repeating steps 2 and three until the characters can no longer
be a highlighter. It should take no more than 11 repeated attempts.
Go back to the lock screen and swipe to activate the Camera and,
simultaneously swipe from the top-down to show notification tab.
Press Settings which will show password, PIN, or pattern prompt.
In the password field long-tap and paste the characters you copied and
pasted in step 2. Keep pasting the characters as long as the system
allows you. Also, make sure that the typing cursor is located at the end
of the last typed string before you paste again.
Repeat Step 7 until the system crashes, and the buttons at the bottom of
the screen disappear. The screen will be extended with the camera
screen. Once the camera crashes too, you’ll be greeted by your screen.

7. Use Safe Mode to Bypass the Third-Party Lock

Screen

Some people don’t like the built-in lock system. Instead, they
download the third-party apps that lock the phone instead.
Parents and people who spend too much time on their phone
restrict their screen time using various lock patterns. If you’re
one of these people, you can boot your device into safe mode
and disable the lock pattern or PIN from there.
Press and hold the power button and when prompted whether you want
to power off, restart, or some other option, long-press the “Power off”
option.
The device will now ask you whether you want to boot into Safe Mode, to
which you press “O.” When the device boots into Safe Mode, the third-
party lock app will be disabled, and you’ll be able to access your device.
Keep in mind some devices can access into Safe Mode by performing
similar settings like to “Download Mode” as explained in the previous
methods.

8. Forgotten Pattern

With devices running Android 4.4 or lower, you can use the
feature called Forgotten Pattern to access your device. This
feature was quite useful when Pattern unlocking was extremely
popular. Here’s how to bypass the lock screen using the
forgotten pattern.

Attempt to access your device using random password patterns until

your device prompts you to choose the “Forgot Pattern” option. Once it
appears press on it and selects “Unlock with Google Account Details.”
Enter your Google account credentials and reset your device lock screen
password.
Once the process is complete, Google will email you with a unique code
you’ll use to create a new pattern lock or remove it.

In case your device is not able to use the guide above you
should head over to original xda thread as there are few other
methods described for all android devices (such as not rooted,
no recovery or on any other situation).
