To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to express great interest in the Coordinator of Student Services position. I hold a Masters
Degree in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary and Special Education. I am currently completing my Michigan School Administrator
Certificate through Michigan State University. My experiences throughout the administrative internship
have allowed me to explore, understand and dive into leadership experiences that have helped shape
me into the educator and leader I am today. Collaboration, communication, and making data-driven
decisions are qualities that I consider personal strengths, and I use these daily in my current position.

I started my career with Livonia Public Schools at Randolph Elementary School as a resource room
teacher. This position gave me insight, knowledge, and experience in the field of special education,
leadership, and teaching. During this experience, I worked closely with my student achievement team
members to maximize student performance and successfully engage and motivate students with
learning and behavioral difficulties. My leadership experiences including acting administrator, co-
leader of Student Achievement Team, member of School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports
Implementation team, member of School Improvement Team, member of Formative Assessment for
Michigan Educators (FAME) team. In addition, I collaborated and created content for social-emotional
learning curriculum for district-wide professional developments and participated in the role out of the
new curriculum in my classroom, and planned, promoted and assisted with successful parent nights to
support social-emotional wellness and family success/routines at home.

Through my present role as an administrative intern, I have had a range of experiences with many
educators and leaders that I value. I have led, assisted with, was a participant and/or observer in a
multitude of experiences related to the eight standards based on the National Educational Leadership
Preparation Standards. Some of these experiences include: attending and participating in coordinator
meetings and Wayne County coordinating council; utilizing my experience as a special education case
manager to collaborate and create plans for mainstreaming students from the multi-age center
program to receive the necessary supports in the general education classroom and provide explicit
instruction based on IEP goals and objectives; collaborate and create content for district-wide
professional developments regarding the new social-emotional learning curriculum purchased by the
district this year; attended high profile special education meetings (IEP, MET, REED, MDR, Transition
Meetings, Level of Concern Meetings, Threatening Behavior Meetings, and many more); and was able to
act as administrator and other leadership positions in their absence.

Again, I would like to express my sincere interest in a Coordinator of Student Services position. I hope
you will find that my experiences within the district make me a strong fit for this position. Please feel
free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

Nicole Steele
