2.1 Types of machine / equipment’s used in company:

 Circuit Manufacturing Tools:

1. Soldering iron-

A soldering iron is used to make a permanent electrical connection between components and leads / wires

2. Helping hands-

can be a great help in holding the board and/or component in place when soldering

 Helping hands used when soldering electronic circuits

 The image below shows these in use soldering an LED.

3. Desoldering tool / solder sucker-

A desoldering tool provides an instantaneous suction which will remove molten solder from the circuit

board and component lead.

4. Heat shunt-
Whilst soldering sensitive components it is possible to overheat and damage active components such as
transistors. To avoid this soldering of active components is best left until after non-active components is
complete and to keep the soldering time down as short as possible. A heat shunt can be used to further
protect the component. It is placed on the lead between the component and the soldering point and will
absorb some of the heat preventing it damaging the component.
 PCB Lab:
 This lab mainly includes equipment’s and machines to produce multi-layer plated-through Printed circuit
boards (PCBs), to insert leaded and surface mounted devices. Printed circuit boards are electronic circuits
boards created for mounting electronic components on a nonconductive board, and creating conductive
connections between them. The creation of circuit patterns is accomplished by using both additive and
subtractive methods. The conductive circuit is generally copper, although aluminum, nickel, chrome, and
other metals are sometimes used. There are three basic varieties of printed circuit boards: single-sided,
double-sided, and multi-layered.

3.2 Material Handling Devices in company:

All handling operations are done manually.

3.3 Safety gadgets used on machines and personal safety equipment's:

Mechanical hazards on machinery typically occur at points of operation, points of power transmission,
and other points of machine movement. Safeguarding devices are designed to limit the risk to personnel
for accident or injury at these points.
1. Safety Light Curtains:
Safety light curtains protect personnel from injury and machines from damage by creating a sensing
screen that guards machine access points and perimeters. An individual or object interrupting any beam in
the screen will trigger a halt to the hazardous motion.

2. Safety Controller:
A safety controller monitors multiple safety and non-safety input devices, providing safe stop and start
functions for machines with hazardous motion. A single safety controller can replace multiple safety
relay modules in applications that include E-Stop buttons, safety light curtains, interlocking gate
switches, and other safety input devices.

3. Indicator Lights:
Available in single and multicolour options, LED indicator lights provide high-visibility real-
time indication of equipment and safety status. They have a compact, low profile design that enables
deployment in areas where other indication solutions would interfere with machine motion.

4. Emergency Stop and Stop Control:

Emergency stop devices allow workers to quickly stop a device by pushing a button or pulling a rope in
order to prevent injury to personnel and material loss. These devices are wired to override all other
machine controls and remove power from hazardous machine motion.
5. Safety Interlock Switches:
Safety interlock switches monitor the mechanical guards that separate an individual from a hazard. If a
guard, like a gate, door, or panel is opened or removed, the safety interlock switches send a signal to the
machine control system to halt the hazardous situation.

 Personal safety equipment's used in company:

1. Insulated Gloves – Insulated gloves will prevent electricity from traveling into your hands should there
be an exposed wire, short circuit, or other issue.

2. Insulated Matting – Insulated matting will put a protective layer between the employee and the floor.
This is helpful when working at switchboards, transformers, and other high-voltage areas. It can help
prevent electricity from traveling up from the floor into the person’s body, as well as eliminating a path
for electricity to travel through the body and out to the floor.
3. Insulated Ladders – Insulated ladders won’t transmit electricity into the person who is using it. If a
normal metal ladder accidentally touches a live electrical wire, it can be devastating. With the insulated
ladder, this isn’t an electrical concern.

4. Rescue Rods – In the event that someone is being electrocuted, people will be tempted to rush in to save
them. Unfortunately, this will only lead to them becoming electrocuted as well. Having a rescue rod
present will allow those in the areas to pull the victim to safety, or push the source of the electricity
away.

5. Voltage Detectors – Even after a power source has been removed, there can still be electricity in a
system because of capacitors. A voltage detector will show the level of electricity in a given system at
the current time, so employees won’t mistakenly begin working on a system until all power has been
eliminated.

CHAPTER NO. 5

5.1 Quality Policy of the Company:

 To strive and offer world class quality products and services to our customers in domestic and
international market.
 To accomplish the corporate vision of the company by offering technologically advanced and reliable
products and services to the best satisfaction of the customers.
 To improve competitiveness and profitability through continual improvement in quality of products,
processes, systems and after-sales-service.

5.2 Quality system employed; Quality Improvement Technique used in company:

1. Problem identification:
 Problem Identification consists of:
Clearly identifying the root cause of a problem
Developing a detailed problem statement that includes the problem’s effect on a population’s health.
 To solve the problems, follow this step:
 Define the problem
 Generate alternative solutions
 Evaluate and select an alternative
 Implement and follow up on the solution
2. Idea brainstorming:
It is a situation where a group of people meet to generate new ideas and solutions around a specific
domain of interest by removing inhibitions. People are able to think more freely and they suggest as
many spontaneous new ideas as possible. All the ideas are noted down without criticism and after the
brainstorming session the ideas are evaluated.

3. Prototype design and its implementation:

It is the process of testing your prototype with real users to validate design decisions before
development starts. The goal is to identify problems and areas of improvement early so you can make
the necessary changes prior to development and build a product that meets users' needs and
expectations.
How does prototype testing work?
Prototype testing is an essential part of the design and product development process. The way you go
about testing your prototype depends on the type of product, where you are in the development process,
your goals, and the resources available. But here are some general steps to follow.
Before you build your prototype and start testing, you should have a clear idea of what you want to
validate. This will help you define the kind of prototype you need. Prototypes can vary in complexity,
from low-fidelity sketches to fully functional and interactive prototypes. While low-fidelity prototypes
are used for testing out concepts, high-fidelity prototypes are great for testing usability and identifying
issues in the workflow.
Once the prototype is ready, it’s time to get it in front of your users. When you run the test, try to recruit
participants that are representative of your target audience. By watching how users interact with your
prototype and listening to their feedback, you’ll learn what works and what needs to be improved. The
insights gathered will allow you to iterate and create a better product.

4. Customer verification:

Customer verification is a process that is used by businesses with online products, services, or content
to ensure that the information provided by their customers is correct and that the customers are who
they say they are.
One of the most important benefits of customer verification is that it allows businesses to comply with
government laws and regulations and adhere to guidelines set by regulatory bodies. Additionally,
customer verification helps reduce risks of fraud or identity theft, as well as costs and expenses arising
from incorrect or erroneous information provided by customers.
At the same time, customer verification helps protect users from fraudulent activities committed by
other users, and helps keep the business’s customer base secure from bad actors.
5. Mass Production:

Mass production is the manufacturing of large quantities of standardized prodoften using assembly
lines or automation technology. Mass production facilitates the efficient production of a large number
of similar products.
In mass production, mechanization is used to achieve high volume, detailed organization of material
flow, careful control of quality standards, and division of labor.

CHAPTER NO. 6

6.1 Productivity Improvement Technique used in company:

 Excessive QC

Quality control (QC) is a procedure or set of procedures intended to ensure a manufactured product
adheres to a defined set of quality criteria or meets the relevant requirements of a client, including
quality inspections. It includes,

1. Pre-Production Inspection (PPI):

The Pre-Production Inspection (PPI) is conducted before the production process begins and helps
to assess the quantity and quality of the raw materials and components and whether they conform
to the relevant product specifications.

2. Pre-production inspection planning:

This step is particularly useful for products that are in continuous production that have strict
requirements and when quality issues have been found prior to manufacturing during an earlier
PPI.

3. Pre-shipment inspection (PSI):

This inspection process is conducted on finished products when at least 80% of the order has been
packed for shipping. Random samples are selected and inspected for defects against the relevant
standards and procedures.

4. Piece-by-piece Inspections:
In addition to the four types of quality inspections above, another procedure also exists. A piece-
by-piece inspection involves checking each and every item to evaluate a range of variables
including general appearance, workmanship, function, and safety. This inspection process can be
carried out either before or after the packaging inspection.

6.2 Production Planning and Control, Quality Assurance of the Company:

 Production Planning and Control of the company:
 A good production plan minimizes lead time, which is the amount of time that passes between the
placing of an order and the completion and delivery of that order.
 Depending on the company and the type of production planning necessary, the definition of lead time
varies slightly. In supply chain management, for example, lead time includes the amount of time it takes
for parts to ship from a supplier.
 This is included because the manufacturing business needs to know when the parts will arrive to
properly execute material requirements planning (MRP). This is especially important with tight
manufacturing constraints or just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing.

Master production schedule (MPS)

These are schedules for individual, specific commodities to be produced in a given time period. They
are often generated by software, and then adjusted by users.
Material requirements planning
MRP is a system used for production planning, scheduling and inventory control. MRP ensures the
availability of raw materials, maintains the lowest possible material and product levels in-house, and
plans manufacturing and purchasing activities. It is often automated to some extent by software, but can
be performed completely manually as well.
Capacity planning
This is the process of determining what capacity an organization has to meet changing demands.
Workflow planning
This is the planning of a sequence of operations performed by an employee or group of employees.

 Quality Assurance of the Company:

Quality Assurance of the company has following phases:

1. Failure testing, which continually tests a product to determine if it breaks or fails. For physical products
that need to withstand stress, this could involve testing the product under heat, pressure or vibration. For
software products, failure testing might involve placing the software under high usage or load
conditions.
2. Statistical process control (SPC), a methodology based on objective data and analysis and developed by
Walter Shewhart at Western Electric Company and Bell Telephone Laboratories .This methodology
uses statistical methods to manage and control the production of products.
3. Total quality management (TQM), which applies quantitative methods as the basis for continuous
improvement. TQM relies on facts, data and analysis to support product planning and performance
reviews.
