Boiling a Water

(salt & sugar)

SCIENTIFIC METHOD
OBSERVATION

In this experiment we will be able to know what

variable “sugar and salt” will boil the water first.
Question

◦Which casserole with water will boil first?

◦Casserole A containing water with 1 spoon of salt?
◦ or Casserole B containing water with 1 spoon of
sugar?
Hypothesis

The best prediction that comes up in our minds

in which it boils faster between the two water
with different variables “sugar and salt” is:
that the water with salt will be the one to boil
first.
Experiment

Materials needed:
o2 Casseroles
o4 cups of water
o1 spoon of salt
o1 spoon of sugar
oStove
oProcedure:

1. Sandy prepare two casseroles, and label them as “A” and “B”.
2. Put the casserole on the stove.
3. Put 2 cups of water in each casserole.
4. Add 1 tbsp. of salt in casserole A.
5. Add 1 tbsp. of sugar in casserole B.
6. Turn on the stove.
7. Observe which casserole boils faster.
Caserole A Caserole B
Result
After two minutes of waiting casserole A containing
water with salt boils faster than casserole B that contains
water with sugar.
(More heat energy was needed to break the ionic bond in
salt solution than the covalent bond in
sugar solution so the boiling
point of salt solution was
higher)
Conclusion
I therefor conclude that water with salt boils
faster than the water with sugar. More heat
energy was needed to break the ionic bond in
salt solution than the covalent bond in sugar
solution so the boiling point of salt solution was
higher.
Iterate

What if we put the casserole with sugar

first and clock it for five seconds before
putting the casserole
with salt?
